Are you into medicine and/or brutal slayings? Do you watch surgical videos and Kung-Fu movies? Do you enjoy the combination of lab coats and masks? If you… um… read any of these questions, you should read The Adventures of Dr. McNinja. The series, written by Chris Hastings, inked by Kent Archer, and colored by Anthony Clark (whose own webcomic will likely be featured here in the future) follows a doctor who is also a ninja. My power of description knows no bounds.
Dr. McNinja comes from a family of Irish ninja who disapprove of the Doctor’s choice to become a medical professional. Accompanied by his sidekick Gordito, his gorilla secretary Judy, and Gordito’s pet raptor Yoshi, Dr. McNinja must find the time to cure illness and injury whilst fighting off pirates and children with Paul Bunyan’s Disease. Despite his father Dan and mother Mitzi wishing their first-born would remain just a ninja, the Doctor’s brother Sean or “Dark Smoke Puncher” also wishes to do more than just kill with reckless abandon. With almost no effort, the comic manages to have one of the greatest casts out there. These characters all manage to be funny in their own way, and they come together for some amazingly funny stories.
The Doctor fights Ronald McDonald. He fights zombies. He fights raptor-riding bandits and Death and a robot of Dracula on the moon. He fights everything, and yet expects himself to be a healer. What’s great about the series is that like many mainstream comics, we’re given a hero who must struggle to overcome his natural drive to slaughter things with his dream of treating those who need help. However, the combination of doctor and ninja comes to form an amazing hero who is more capable than a number of others.
Dr. McNinja has all the humor of a number of different superhero comic book comedies that are released monthly. It fits right in with books like The Tick, wherein we see interesting takes on the genre and how heroic conduct is gone about. The Adventures of Dr. McNinja is a very fun series that continuously impresses. Give the series a look if you’re into crazy storylines and brilliant characters.

I just checked this out at drmcninja.com . It’s easily one of my new favorite things. I think I can relate to Gordito because I’m pretty sure I had a beard at 12(I am not kidding).
