Uncanny X-Force is probably the premier “X” title that Marvel is putting out. Teaming up Wolverine, Deadpool, Fantomex, Psylocke, and AoA Nightcrawler; Rick Remender has created excellent chemistry between all characters. While feeling a little disjointed at times, #26 displays a team that doesn’t have all of its working parts, and is suffering for it.
In #25, X-Force had seen a splitting up of the team. With Psylocke and Fantomex going their own ways (suuuuuuure), Wolverine, Deadpool, and AoA Nightcrawler are now at the mercy of the Omega Clan. Someone knows about the X-Force and is attempting to eliminate them. There is also an appearance of a famous mutant that may have a tie in to the Wolverine series. Remender seems to be juggling a lot of separate instances, but all seems to come together at the end.
As for enjoying the comic, it’s hard not to enjoy a comic full of anti-heroes. The character that really controls where the story is going, however, is Fantomex. Out of everyone, he is the true question mark. I have a feeling that we have yet to see his true story told.
If you like the Uncanny X-Force, you have to pick up #26. Something big is brewing, and it’s not going to end well for our assassins.
