It seems that the first pictures of the suit from Captain America: the First Avenger have appeared online via Joblo.com and Aint it cool news. In case you haven’t heard, Chris Evans is playing the role of Steve Rogers/ Captain America. The movie adaptation from the Marvel Comic created by Joe Simon is being directed by Joe Johnston (the Wolfman) and is scheduled to come out next year. Pictures after the break.
Personally, I think that the suit design is fantastic. It blends together the WWII design and the Kirby original just enough to find a balance between the two. I also think that it fits perfectly with the WWII setting that they are shooting for since it is a period pieces of Cap fighting th Red Skull and his Nazi henchmen. I got to say I had my doubts about the look of the film but this is quelling those feeling quite a bit. Now we just have to see the artistic direction of Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. I hope it is just as good as these samples.
UPDATE: This costume may possibly be the costume that Steve Rogers wears at a USO show to gear the troops up for battle. After the show, Steve hates the costume and wears a whole other suit instead. Could that other suit be the WWII suit complete with an actual helmet that was seen in Millar/Hitch’s The Ultimates? We will have to wait and see.
