The Ridiculousness of Error 8001050F Continues – UPDATED TWICE!

Posted by Jamie ConcepcionJamie Concepcion On March - 1 - 2010

I was going to just update the last post, but I feel this deserves its own.  Sony is now recognizing that the error 8001050F is being caused by a clock bug in older PS3 models. Check out what Sony has said about it…

We hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours. In the meantime, if you have a model other than the new slim PS3, we advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality, such as recording obtained trophies, and not being able to restore certain data.

As mentioned above, Please be advised that the new slim PS3 is not affected with this error. We are doing our best to resolve the issue and do apologize for any inconvenience caused.

I REALLY hope by “not being able to restore certain data” they are making a joke. If data on PS3 hard drives gets lost that will be terrible. If it has to be something, please let it be a demo that will need to be re-downloaded or something trivial like that.

Also, doesn’t it seem like this is some sort of cruel and unusual punishment for people who didn’t ‘upgrade’ to the PS3 Slim? No, thank you. I have a 60 gig that plays all PS2 games and I’d like to keep it instead of being swindled into re-buying those PS2 games from the Playstation Network in the future.

UPDATE – The internet is a-buzz with claims that the PS3 fat issues have been resolved and they now work fine.

UPDATE 2 - Sony has officially said it’s OK to go back into the water. By go back into the water I of course mean use your PS3′s
