The Double Zeroes – Fantastic Mr. Fox

Another one where  I haven’t read the book; maybe I need to read more.  Fantastic Mr. Fox was  number 3 on our list of The 10 Best Films of 2009 . It was my personal favorite film of 2009 (I would gladly watch it again over any of the films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar), and I am holding to the idea that it was only number 3 on our list because I was the only one to see it.

The story is a fox, his wife, son Ash, and nephew Kristofferson are happily living their lives in a new tree home until Fox decides to pull one last great heist.  Enlisting the help of his friend and tree superintendent Kylie, Fox proceeds to steal from Boggis, Bunce, and Bean, the three farmers Fox lives near. The farmers vow to kill Fox and it turns into a hilarious story of survival and revenge.

One of the best aspects of the film is how it can be labeled as a children’s movie, but contains a decent amount of content that I feel like only adults would appreciate. Instead of saying anything resembling a cuss word the characters instead actually say ‘cuss’ in it’s place.

The cast is great featuring George Clooney as Fox, Meryl Streep as Mrs. Fox, Jason Schwartzman as Ash, and Bill Murray as Fox’s lawyer Badger.

If you didn’t get a chance to see it when it was in theater’s Fantastic Mr. Fox will be on Blu-Ray and DVD later this month.
