I caught this video over on CrunchGear a couple days ago. Whether Electro Harmonix wants you to think it is, the coolest part of this video is learning that Delia Derbyshire first made the theme by splicing tape loops together. I recognize that Doctor Who started in 1963, but it never occurred to me that synths didn’t exist then.
Anyway, below the cut you’ll find a video with the background story of the theme and then someone playing it using only a guitar and effects pedals. It’s really cool and shouldn’t be missed by fans of Doctor Who or effects pedals.
