I thought of doing a list like this a while ago and put it off considering how many games were being pushed back at the time. I’m glad I waited because a lot of the games slated to release before years end were pushed back to 2010. All of those games being pushed back did make putting this list together a lot harder also. Well, here goes…
5.) Left 4 Dead 2

L4D2 surely has been talked about a lot. That might cause you to question why it’s the lowest game on this list. Well, most of the talk about it has been bad and Valve’s fan-base refusing to support the game. Some people even went as far as to organize a petition to boycott Left 4 Dead 2. It really really cool; new enemies, new weapons (melee!), new locations, a revamped in-game director, all good additions. If you don’t like the idea of Left 4 Dead 2, then don’t buy it, but you’ll most likely be missing out.
This is a great trailer for the different enemy types, you have the spitter, charger, and jockey all shown in this gameplay clip.
4.) GTA: Episodes From Liberty City
The Ballad of Gay Tony is more of the big deal here. It’s the second of two downloadable expansion packs to what was the favorite game of 2008 to many people. You play as Luis Lopez, nightclub manager Tony Prince’s right-hand man. As the picture shows The Lost and Damned is also included, and if you don’t have that piece of DLC yet I highly recommend checking this out.
This trailer features a little bit about two supporting characters in The Ballad of Gay Tony as well as showing a short clip of The Lost and Damned.
3.) Uncharted 2
Ok, so up until this point you might have been thinking ‘are these really two of the most talked about games coming out this year that haven’t been released yet?’ And you’d have been justified in your skepticism. Uncharted 2, however, is getting a huge amount of buzz. Sony’s PR and Marketing teams are doing an excellent job of getting the word out that if you own a PS3, you NEED this game. Some reviewers would have you believing it’s the second coming of Jesus. Game Informer said it’s one of the greatest games of all time, while X-Play’s Adam Sessler said it’s the greatest single-player experience he’s ever played. It’s got a lot to live up to. The general public will find out if it does starting tomorrow, or in a couple of hours if you can find a midnight release somewhere.

2.) Brutal Legend
This is another one where if you’re lucky you can probably pick it up at midnight tonight. Brutal Legend’s buzz is less magazine/industry buzz than Uncharted 2′s and more fan based. Many many people are excited for this game because it’s Tim Schafer’s baby, it’s going to be hilarious, and the soundtrack is excellent. Brutal Legend is also the reason people are calling this month Rocktober.
Now, I’m going to include a couple of videos.

Part 2
1.) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
After seeing the last four you probably guessed this would be #1. No game of 2009 has gotten more people talking than Modern Warfare 2. Many other games have run in fear, possibly causing the greatest January – March the gaming world has ever seen. If that doesn’t work out and the gaming industry collapses in on itself we’ll have Modern Warfare 2 to blame. We’ll probably be too busy playing the multiplayer to even realize though.
This is the Flag Runner Trailer with the guys that are playing talking during it. It’s a nice glimpse of the multiplayer though. You’ve probably already seen it.
