Screw Your Multiple Batmanses, Giant-Man Returns

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 2 - 2010

Yeah, that’s right son.  Giant-Man, a character name we haven’t seen used in a long-ass time, returns in December in Avengers Academy.  It can only make me imagine that Hank Pym, the man with a thousand codenames and a mean back hand, has finally gone old school because theoretically he’s going to stop being insane.  Remember the Hank Pym that didn’t create killer robots and beat his wife?  Neither do I.  So I think this could be a really interesting return for Hank Pym.  The only disappointing thing is that this is happening in Avengers Academy, and that Hank isn’t on a primary Avengers team to really prove himself.  Granted, this character has been about nothing but proving himself for the past I-don’t-know-how-many years, but he deserves the shot.

I’m going to laugh pretty hard if this ends up not even being Hank in this costume.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dreams

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On July - 21 - 2010

Aaaaaaaand the last dimension listed for Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is Ultimate Spider-Man, but during his time with the symbiote.  What a load of bullshit.  Way to try having your cake and eating it too.  They wanted the intrigue of black suit Spidey along with the popularity of Ultimate Spidey.  Cheaters.  Cheaters I say!  But in honesty I don’t know that I should have expected Spider-Ham or anything similar to be the last remaining character.  They kind of had to keep things within the realm of familiarity with most fans, and while people like myself may enjoy the everyday Peter Porker joke, I can get why they’d do this.  It just seems like a wasted opportunity to do really wild versions of Spider-Man.

The New New New Not Old Avengers by Fred Van Lente

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On July - 7 - 2010

Fred Van Lente, one of the writers on Incredible Hercules announced on his Twitter this morning that he would be doing a new Avengers series for Marvel.  Considering we right now already have Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Avengers Academy, Avengers Prime and Avengers: Children’s Crusade it seems pretty outrageous that we’re getting a new title.  That doesn’t mean I’m any less intrigued.  Yeah, I know, I’m a sucker for the Avengers.  But regardless of whether or not this team is called the Next Ultimate New Dark Mighty Secret Young West-Coast Great-Lakes Pet Avengers Initiative Academy Prime, I can only speculate as to who could possibly be included on a team at this point.  Outside of attempting to spread Spider-Man, Wolverine and Luke Cage any more thin than they already are, who else is left?

Iron Man is Getting Some Interesting Covers

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 10 - 2010

Variant covers that is. Throughout this month certain Iron Man releases, and one Avengers book, are getting variant covers by guest artists. They’re calling the variants Design 2.0. The above image is my personal favorite and was done by Pixar story-board artist Bill Pressing.  The cover is depicting WWII era Iron Man and will go on sale June 23rd. Keep reading to see the other three.
