Star Wars: Agent of the Empire: Iron Eclipse – Review
Johan Cross is an Agent of the Empire. Sort of a more humanized version of The Operative from Serenity with a dash of James Bond thrown in. He’s working for the bad guys, but he believes what he’s doing is right. He’s also going to bed any ladies he can get info from along the way.
In “Iron Eclipse” Cross uncovers a connection between one of his targets and a droid company, so he pleads with his boss to go ‘off the grid’ and investigate the link. I’m not going to tell you any more about the plot, because uncovering the mystery is part of the fun.
- Cross is a fantastic protagonist. Like I said, he’s like a more devoted to his cause James Bond. Who doesn’t like stories of spies that are really good at what they do? Especially in a universe as rich as Star Wars.
- Cross has some very cool friends. I’m not going to say who it is exactly. But, I will hint that it’s probably one of your favorite characters from the original trilogy.
- While the ending didn’t have the emotional impact on me that I think the writer was going for, I still felt it very strong and appreciated what happened.
- The final battle with the villain, and the villain itself was a little wonky.
Iron Eclipse is a great five-issue mini-series. I loved the character and how he approached situations. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of Cross.
I’d recommend checking this out to not only Star Wars fans, but to fans of James Bond and other spy stories as well. Check this out, you won’t regret it.
