Spring Movies 2011
It’s technically spring. Living in New England some days it feels like it, some days it doesn’t. There are a good amount of guilty pleasure/ nerd worthy movies coming out this season. You want a run down? You’ll get a run down!
And it’ll be chronological! BOOM!
Fast Five - The trailer says that this film marks the beginning of summer. It might be the beginning of summer movie season, but it’s definitely still spring guys! It marks the beginning of an awesome explosion season. When this article posts I should hopefully be sitting in a theater watching people doing crazy things with cars while avoiding explosions.
Dylan Dog: Dead of Night - Based on a popular comic series. That’s really all I know about it.
Thor – It’s the Mother F**kin’ god of Thunder! I’m definitely not sold on the scenes I’ve seen of Thor interacting with normal people, but the scenes where he’s acting like the bad-ass that he is look great.
Hobo With a Shotgun - I have to include this disasterpiece. It is literally one of the craziest movies I have ever seen. It’s theatrical release will most likely be limited. It’s available on demand right now.
Priest – Look, I KNOW this movie is going to be brain-hurtingly stupid. But, it looks like it’ll be fun. And isn’t that what matters?
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides – This series has lost a lot of its “zazz” within the last two installments. Johnny Depp’s character is the one people really care about though, so maybe this entry into the series will fare better.
The Hangover Part II – You have to feel bad for Justin Bartha, right? He’s cast for a great comedy that he’s barely in, and it KILLS so hard they greenlight a sequel. He’s cast again, and judging from the trailers he’s barely in it. I guess “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
Kung Fu Panda 2 - The first film was a great animated comedy. I always wanted to see more of Po kicking ass, and this is our chance. This is supposed to be the first of five or six more sequels, so prepare to get the Shrek effect. DreamWorks is going to run all of their animated franchises into the ground. (Maybe more on that later)
X-Men: First Class – I just posted a new kick-ass trailer(see what i did there?) for this film yesterday. It looks WAY better than that Wolverine film. Let’s hope it’s the best X-Men film yet. Plus, Michael freaking Fassbender!
Super 8 - JJ Abrams next film. It’s supposedly about aliens in the 70’s/80’s. Does anyone REALLY know what this film is about?
The Green Lantern - This has to be my most anticipated film of this season. I was really skeptical at first and I’m probably going to just zone out during scenes featuring Blake Lively, but recent trailers are making this film look great. If you’re unfamiliar with the whole Green Lantern lore, because you only know who Batman and Superman are(which is fine), check out the animated film Green Lantern: First Flight
