Obligatory Mephisto joke. I’m sorry, it’s just that this seems to be how everything involving Spider-Man news needs to be introduced nowadays.
Being far from the only Spider-Man news today (reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise is coming) the Spider-Man musical “Turn Off the Dark” has somehow found new life. And here everyone thought it had gone the way of Uncle Ben and been put deep, deep under. However, that is not the case, as… as…
Does that say “Music and Lyrics by Bono and The Edge”?
See, I already knew that Bono did the music for this play, and that still caused a surge of blood to fire off in my eye. I don’t see why this won’t just go away. I think Spider-Man has gone through enough the past few years, including the Civil War and the loss of his marriage. Does he really need to star in a ridiculous Bono-fueled musical? Is this really the best way Bono can think of to save the world? I could top that. Here, I just tossed a plastic bottle into the recycling. I just surpassed all the good that could possibly come from the Spider-Man musical.
And another thing I take issue with is the title of the musical. “Turn Off the Dark” doesn’t make any sense. I’m fairly certain no one anywhere has ever “turned on darkness”. In fact, the only thing I could imagine turning off the darkness would be inviting the darkness to the opening night of the show. That would be a colossal turn-off.
