Red Sparowes is a five-piece instrumental band from Los Angeles featuring members of Isis and Pleasure Forever. This is their third full length album, and first for Sargent House. It was released April 6th.
Some day I’m going to figure out whether it’s required to have a long album title if you’re an instrumental band.
YAY :
- At first I didn’t know someone from Isis was in this band, but they do remind me of Isis, in a good way.
- This is a fantastic album. It’s like the best parts of Isis and the best parts of Explosions in the Sky mixed together.
- To call this epic sounding could be an understatement. It’s instrumental yes, but it’s more engaging than a lot of other bands that have a singer.
This is easily one of the best albums of this year so far. If you like ‘post-rock’ or ever wished Isis didn’t have the gruff growling vocals then you’ll really enjoy this. I’m going to put some songs that I think are album highlights below, but you should really listen to the entire album all the way through. It deserves your attention.
Album Highlights : “In Illusions of Order” , “A Hail of Bombs” , “Giving Birth to Imagined Saviors” , & “A Mutiny”
Check it out for yourself
