So in case you didn’t know, every week rectangular art-booklets telling serialized stories are released, and this week is no different.  Although it is different in the sense that because of the holiday the shipping is pushed back to Thursday.  So yeah.  Deal with that, folks.  Dreaded postage.

Single Issues:

Brightest Day #3 - For anyone who wants to see why dead fish do bad things and why sometimes molecular structures hurt an awful lot when you try to pull them apart.

*

Red Robin #13 – Tim Drake/Wayne/Lieberman/whateverthehell is back in Gotham City, fighting what appears to be a series of no-name villains.  Ah, it’s good to be home.

*

Superman/Batman Annual #4 – Batman Beyond returns to make an appearance in official, serious, legitimate continuity in the DC Universe.  And to top it off he looks seriously less pointy than he has in previous incarnations.

*

Avengers Prime #1 – Steve Rogers, Iron Man, and Thor are finally going to hash out all their issues with each other and then, after share time, they’ll make smores by the lake and play pranks on the girls at the neighboring camp.  Or they’ll fight a villain.

*

Hawkeye & Mockingbird #1 – What many people are calling Marvel’s answer to Green Arrow & Black Canary, purely because it’s practically the same book.  To Mockingbird’s defense she doesn’t have any powers.  And it’ll probably be a bit more interesting.

*

Collections:

DMZ Vol. 8: Hearts and Minds (TPB) – Matty has to continue his struggles to change things in the DMZ, but nothing tends to go his way anyway.  The best he can usually hope for is just getting out alive.

*

Jamie’s Picks

Serenity: Float Out (one-shot) – Wash, the pilot of Serenity, gets eulogized by three people close to him. Written by comedian and nerd icon Patton Oswalt.

*

The Thanos Imperative #1 (of 6) – According to Marvel this is “the next huge cosmic event”. How can you not check that out?
