Read These, Burn the Rest – August 18th, 2010

After a great deal of hiatus due to many things I’ve had to do lately and an impossible process of drawing fires and crabs for your visual pleasure, Read These, Burn the Rest is BACK IN ACTION.  I suppose.  I’ve got a couple things to recommend.  Oh, and only I can prevent forest fires.  No one else.  Just me.

Single Issues

Brightest Day #8 – Deadman is still trying really hard to get that ring off his finger.  Once again, as is a theme with Brightest Day, things that are going to happen in future issues are much more interesting that what’s happening now.  But still, keep going with it.

*

Ex Machina #50 – Last issue, bitches.  I’ve read the first two hardcovers, and would love to keep going with the series.  So yeah, fans of the series should go for this issue real quick.

*

Fables #97 – Rose Red continues on her struggle to stop being such a waste of space.  I mean really, from what I last read of Fables she was  a terrible screw-up.  She’d better do something to fix all these problems with the Fables.

*

The Last Phantom #1 – There can be only one.  At a time.  And then another takes over.  As long as the first one was the father of the second.  And they wear purple!

*

New Avengers #3 – Magic has gone crazy and Luke Cage has been a giant.  Maybe Iron Fist and Dr. Strange can pose the threat into submission?  Nah, that’ll just make Wolverine mad.

*

Secret Avengers #4 – Steve is willing to become Nova to stop Nova from being something with horns while a giant robot-man from space works with the others, including a blue cat-person and a man who talks to ants.  It’s comics ladies and gentlemen!

Collections

Hack/Slash Omnibus Volume 1 (TPB) – Hey, maybe I can finally get me a copy of the first volume of Hack/Slash.  Maybe it won’t have that hideous “HAHA NOT FIRST EDITION” label on the front.  Mocking me for not acting fast when the first printing was out.  How dare they?

*

Jamie’s Picks:

Chew #13 – This is the third and final issue in the “Just Desserts” story arc.

*

The Sixth Gun #3 - I missed the last issue, but I’m definitely looking forward to catching up with this series.
