Read These, Burn the Rest – Week of April 17th, 2013
There has been a lot of great stuff to come out that I have neglected, but THAT ENDS TODAY! I stopped doing this, because it was just a list of names of comics and nothing else. Sure, it was easy to do, but it meant very little. Now, unless I can’t explain why I personally want to check a comic out, it won’t be included. Back to the old style, basically.
Adventure Time #15 - It’s freakin’ Adventure Time. In my experience TV cartoon comic books are like episodes that you get to voice act in your head.
Chew #33 - Chew is one of my favorites of the past few years. It’s a great concept (a guy that can see the history of whatever he eats)
Conan the Barbarian #15 - Brian Wood is a cool dude. I think the series he writes should be supported. He’s also doing The Massive and the commercially exploding Star Wars series(which is also releasing a fourth printing of that #1 this week as well). I admit to not having checked this series out yet (I will very soon, maybe after I finish typing this), but Wood was great with Northlanders, and I imagine this being somewhat similar in tone. At least I hope it is.
Daredevil #25 - Mark Waid is still writing this series, so that’s reason enough for me.
Dial H: Volume 1 – Into You - I’m mainly interested in this because it is written by sci-fi author China Mieville.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #1 - Well, let’s see, it’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!
Judge Dredd #6 - I’m recommending this, because I’m going to start reading it myself. Join me!
Sixth Gun, The - This series is well done, and it’s becoming a TV show. There’s nothing like crossover appeal.
Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ninth Assassin #1 - First, it’s a #1. This is the beginning of the story, even though it doesn’t sound like it from the description. Eight assassins are dead and the man who hired them is seeking a ninth to make an attempt on Vader’s life. I want to know more about what happened to the eight, and hopefully this series will expand on that.
Thief of Thieves #13 - I read the first seven of these, and they were pretty good. Time to pick it up again.
