Read These, Burn the Rest – June 30th, 2010

I”m pretty sure the Nazis burned books all the time.  You terrible, terrible Nazis.  Nah I’m kidding, you’re good people.  Or not, I mean how the hell do I know?  Never mind, just take a look at the picks this week kids.

Single Issues:

Batman Beyond #1 - Finally we return to the amazing adventures of Pointy Batman from the Future.  I missed you Pointy Batman.  I like seeing you and Old Man Former Batman team up.

*

Flash #3 – The Flash is still working hard to clear his name from what theoretically could happen some day.  You’d think by now people would give superheroes the benefit of the doubt when it comes to murders they’re accused of.

*

Wonder Woman #600 – Despite me having dropped WW, I’ll still encourage you to pick up this issue.  It’s got a pretty killer team on it so it looks pretty nice.

*

Invincible #73 – I won’t tell you what happened last issue but sweet Jesus things aren’t looking good for Invincible at all.  Somebody call a doctor and makes sure he’s good with internal organs.

*

Marvel Zombies 5 #4 – Right when you think things can’t get any better we get some zombies fighting giant robots thrown in.  Take a stop over to see how Machine Man takes the fight to these zombies.

*

Secret Avengers #2 – Lost… IN SPACE.  Something bad is happening on Mars and the Avengers are going to have to figure it out before… I don’t know, let’s say “bad things happen.”

*

Spider-Ham 25th Anniversary Special #1 – Show your support on the anniversary of Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham.  He’s quite the pig.

*

Thor #611 – Thor still has a bit to clean up after from the results of Siege, including the dead Asgardians Loki had been deceiving to further his own goals.

*

Atomic Robo: Revenge of the Vampire Dimension #4 – The final issue wherein Robo is haunted by a terrible haunting haunty thing.  I’m not all that sure.  Just go read it.

*

Collections:

*

Kill Audio Volume 1 (HC) – A fun and crazy read by Claudio Sanchez about Kill Audio, a little guy who needs to fix how musical genres are treated like a commodity.  And there’s a coked-up chicken.

*

Batwoman: Elegy Deluxe Edition (HC) – From what I understand, this is a pretty great Batwoman collection and a good preparation for the new Batwoman ongoing that’s coming up.

*

Sherlock Holmes Volume 2 (HC) – The continued graphic collection of the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.  Definitely a good grab, especially for owners of the first volume.

*

Jamie’s Picks

Northlanders #29 – I feel like you can’t really go wrong with Northlanders (ok, maybe The Viking Art of Single Combat wasn’t that great). This is a stand-alone issue, so even if you’ve never read anything from this series you can just jump right in.

*

Turf #2 – I may have been a little upset while reading the first issue when I found out vampires were involved(oh, aliens too…somehow). But, it’s really well written. I’ll definitely be checking this out.
