When the toughest, most hardcore and abrasive characters from video games need help reintegrating into society, Commander Badass is there to get Kratos a job at an electronics store, get Dante a job working at an old folk home.  Kelly Turnbull has put together an awesomely funny comic about what some of the toughest characters do to not seem so harsh out in the real world.  She’s not only damn funny and a great artist, but Turnbull does a lot of clever stuff with her webcomic and it’s really just a fun read overall.  So yes, many people will suffer working to get these monsters and street fighters into some job security, but that doesn’t mean Turnbull’s creation Commander Badass will be doing anything to give up on these freaks.

Forgot to post this yesterday, but it was announced that Neil Gaiman’s incarnation of Death would be appearing in an upcoming issue of Action Comics.  I think this marks the first time Death has appeared in a non-Vertigo DC comic.  I felt it was worth noting because while I’ve still yet to read Sandman or Death (I know, I’m behind) I have always felt that Gaiman’s idea of Death was the best, primarily because I like the idea of death not being a skeletal monstrosity but rather a cute young woman.  I’d certainly rather see her than the Bill and Ted version of Death.  She’s sweet, she’s fun, and she ushers you off into the next life.  I dig a girl that can be in the process of ending my life and still make me really like her.  Anyway, she’ll be dealing with Lex Luthor in this issue, meaning that he’ll likely be having a near-Death exp… I’m so sorry, I almost made the worst joke I’ve ever made.  Forgive me.

So, along with Predators which was released last night there was the trailer for Machete, a movie that could very well be Robert Rodriguez’s masterpiece because of everything it has, not the least of which is Danny Trejo.  I cannot begin to tell you how awesome Danny Trejo is because it just goes too far beyond words.  The trailer gives us everything we could ask for: Jessica Alba half-naked, Danny Trejo tossing people out of windows, Cheech Marin as a priest that kills people like craaaaazy.  Dude, there are luchadors and Robert DeNiro in this movie.  Anyone who saw Rodriguez team up with Tarantino on Grindhouse saw the at-the-time ‘fake’ trailer for Machete.  Rodriguez liked it so damn much he went ballistic on this movie and made it look totally badass and crazy.  There are a couple little surprises in the trailer I won’t spoil, but I will tell you that this is just too awesome for words, I shit you not.

I guess these aren’t really trailers, per se.  Can it be a trailer when it’s a bunch of voices and booming music meant to make you think that Mark Zuckerberg was creating an artificial intelligence that was plotting to take control of the military?  Jesus, it’s Facebook, people.  The Social Network is setting this up to be a story of espionage and mystery.  I shouldn’t have to imagine that throughout Facebook’s creation Mark Zuckerberg was running everywhere shouting into a cellphone “You’ve got to give me more time!”  Could you imagine if they had done a movie like this for Myspace?  They’d have had to call it “The Extremely Outdated Advertisement-Ridden Social Network”.  Check out the trailer on the next page to begin wondering what the hell they’re doing with this movie.

Fred Van Lente, one of the writers on Incredible Hercules announced on his Twitter this morning that he would be doing a new Avengers series for Marvel.  Considering we right now already have Avengers, New Avengers, Secret Avengers, Avengers Academy, Avengers Prime and Avengers: Children’s Crusade it seems pretty outrageous that we’re getting a new title.  That doesn’t mean I’m any less intrigued.  Yeah, I know, I’m a sucker for the Avengers.  But regardless of whether or not this team is called the Next Ultimate New Dark Mighty Secret Young West-Coast Great-Lakes Pet Avengers Initiative Academy Prime, I can only speculate as to who could possibly be included on a team at this point.  Outside of attempting to spread Spider-Man, Wolverine and Luke Cage any more thin than they already are, who else is left?

In what may be some of the best news that I have heard in years, Beavis and Butthead may indeed make a 21st century return to our TV sets. According to the Examiner, Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge is currently writing 30 episodes for the character’s return to the tube. Apparently, he wants to keep the show’s structure virtually the same with the duo’s wacky adventures and of course music videos. I do not know about any of you but I would do terrible, terrible things to watch this show again.  The profuse nosebleeds, cornholioism, and hilarious commentary on music and their subsequent videos remain legendary to multiple generations. Dear lord this needs to happen.

Happy 4th of July everyone!  In honor of the holiday I thought I’d cover a webcomic that is not only fueled by America’s most well-known newspaper strip, but is as explosive and fiery as a thousand fireworks.  Weapon Brown: Blockhead’s War is a comic by Jason Yungbluth that focuses primarily on an adult Charlie Brown after the apocalypse.  Along with his famous dog Snoopy, Chuck goes around hoping to procure food and travel by acting as a mercenary.  What’s most awesome?  Weapon Brown isn’t limited to Peanuts characters.  Yungbluth touches on a number of popular newspaper comic strips, including Beetle Bailey, B.C. and Calvin & Hobbes.  It’s amazing just to see how amazingly cool this comic is while including such goofy and ridiculous characters.  It’s also interesting to see how Yungbluth ducks and dodges everything that could get him in trouble with a comic like this.

This guy made a LEGO version of Futurama’s New New York that’s so incredibly awesome I’m sad he didn’t get paid to do it. I don’t think he got paid to do it. It took him over two years and is really one of the most awesome LEGO creations I’ve personally seen (because of our love for Futurama here at NNAN). There’s over 100 pictures of this incredibly detailed depiction over at the creator’s Flickr account here. Really, you need to see it, even Flexo and Elzar(the four-armed chef) are there.
