Patton Oswalt has been a comedian for over 20 years now. He’s written for shows like MADtv and Human Giant, guest starred on awesome shows like Reno 911 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Played Spence for the entire run of King of Queens, voiced Remy the rat in Ratatouille, and has released two comedy albums. He’s had a pretty good run so far, but that’s not slowing him down. He has a movie coming out soon, called Big Fan, in which he is the top-billed star.
Anyway, comedy, that’s what we’re here for right now. Patton has a new album that he recorded in Washington, D.C. earlier this year called My Weakness is Strong. It’s out on iTunes right now, the physical CD/DVD releases this coming Tuesday. Also, if you read this the day it’s posted don’t miss his stand-up special on Comedy Central tonight at 10 P.M. Well, how is the album?
YAY:
- This is hilarious from beginning to end. There are so many good jokes on this that it would be very very hard for me to pick one segment that was my favorite above any other. If you don’t think Patton’s LSD-fueled ideas about Lucky Charms, his take on Grocery Robots, or our nation’s possible future are funny than you should get your sense of humor checked
- A lot of comedy albums lose most of their effect after you hear them for the first time, so you have to not listen to it for a while before you listen to it again, so you forget it, and it’s funny once more. That’s not the case with My Weakness is Strong. I listened to it four times in one day and again the next day, and I didn’t just do that because I was going to review it.
- The album cover is great. Anything with an angel smoking a cigarette while drinking, gambling, and holding onto porn is a win.
NAY:
- The ONLY thing I didn’t like about it was how he started a joke with how he needs to get in shape or become fascinated with how large he is. I know this is a bit nit-picky, but I remember him using that same theme/ lead-in for a joke on his last album Werewolves and Lollipops.
There really isn’t a lasting bad comment I could make about this comedy album, I’m just an ass sometimes and couldn’t let that go. If you’re a comedy fan you owe it to yourself to buy this album. Like I said before, it’s out currently on iTunes, or you can wait until Tuesday and get the CD/DVD combo. If you’re not familiar with Patton’s humor and are a bit skeptical then watch his special on Comedy Central tonight. I’d recommend keeping the beverages to commercial breaks, because laughing really hard with a mouthful of a drink usually ends poorly.

I just saw it on Comedy Central last night and I thought it was pretty good.
