The solicits are in, and in March we’re going to be seeing FIVE separate Deadpool comics released. Five of them. That’s… that’s just… wow. I don’t really have the power to sum up what that means. Beyond that, we’re being given a glimpse of what is to come, which is the Deadpool Corps. Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, the head of Zombie Deadpool, Kidpool, and an as-of-yet unnamed dog with a Deadpool costume (Dogpool, perhaps. Maybe Deadpup.) Yikes.
Marvel is flooding the market with Deadpool in the sense that God flooded the Earth with water. Which causes me to fear that the only people left reading will be an old man in a boat and his three sons. Meaning not-good sales. Don’t get me wrong, I still love Deadpool. And the fact that the kid has lightsabers does wonders for me in terms of interest. But I fear the fans are going to get sick of this really quick. It’s been hard enough having the three ongoings that Marvel has been putting out.
Let’s look at it this way: We know the more resilient fans are going to hang in there. But the less resilient, i.e. normal fans, will likely get a little irritated with this and decide to take a little break from the Deadpool surge. If Marvel isn’t careful, they’re going to be seeing a lot of this:
I still plan on reading them though. I mean, come ON. The kid has lightsabers.

If they took this group and made it a sitcom-like cartoon of a family that did mercenary jobs together for Adult Swim or something I think they could get a HUGE following. Even if that’s what they do with the comic I think people would love it. It could be violent and funny. Isn’t that what everyone wants nowadays?
