The powers that be over at Apple have killed what was most likely the best music site on the internet. Lala is now dead. Let’s have a brief moment of silence for it shall we?
There was a lot of speculation that Apple would use the software Lala designed before they purchased the site to implement cloud-based music streaming for iTunes users. The jury’s still out on that one. I think they really just didn’t appreciate the competition, even though they weren’t losing too much market share from Lala’s sales. You could have purchased an mp3 album from Lala for around $3 cheaper than iTunes on average, so they obviously needed to be stopped.
Unfortunately all of the album players in our Music Monday posts are now dead as well. They’ll stay up because I still think you should check out those albums if you have a chance.
