Whoever had Sinestro in their “Who Becomes the White Lantern?” pool must have made bank this week, because I’ll bet they were the only one in that category.
I figured there was a chance that Hal Jordan wouldn’t become the White Lantern. And now, after the fact, I maintain that Abin Sur would have been the coolest choice for White Lantern. But Sinestro has taken it upon himself to continue being a jackass and take the power for himself. Yes, Sinestro has the power of the entire emotional spectrum, and will likely be fighting Nekron in the conclusion of Blackest Night. But I hope he fails. I hope he fails so hard. So hard in fact that he becomes a Yellower Yellow Lantern than ever before. Wanting to spread fear to everyone. Babies. Puppies. Baby/Puppy hybrids. All of it.
Yeah, I’d love to see a hero be a hero, but maybe this could work. Watching the villain save the day might be a wake-up call for a lot of heroes. Hell, maybe this will put Sinestro back on the path of the hero. Probably not. But God, it’s just nice to know that ALL of the fans totally called the existence of a White Lantern at the beginning of the series. No surprises there.
OH MAN AND THIS MEANS I GET A WHITE LANTERN RING FOR MY COLLECTION.
And I’ll only feel kind of weird wearing a ring enforcing the power of white.
