What’s Good on the TV? (And Why) – Monday April 15th, 2013
It’s Patriots Day here in my home state, so I had the day off, but I’m still posting this because I like you. Yes, you the one person reading this. You’re pretty cool. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
9:00 – Defiance – “Pilot” - The arrival of the mysterious Nolan and his charge Irisa to the town of Defiance marks a threat to the fragile peace that exists between the residents. SyFy
Why Should I Watch?: Because it’s new! And it’s somehow tied into a video game. What else are you going to do at 9PM on a Monday anyway?
9:00 – The Following – “Havenport” - Roderick’s role as sheriff is questioned after the Havenport Police Department is brought onto the case; Ryan tries to win the trust of one of Joe’s followers by butting heads with the FBI. FOX
Why Should I Watch?: This is supposedly one of the best new shows of 2013, according to Paste Magazine at least. It’s also apparently the first TV show Kevin Bacon has starred in. This show probably has a lot of extras or actors that star in one episode, so he’s basically just voraciously expanding his “Degrees From Kevin Bacon” empire. And, THIS is the other thing you could be doing at 9PM on a Monday.
10:00 – Bates Motel – “Ocean View” – Norman and Emma find clues that lead to a major discovery; Norman pursues Bradley. A&E
Why Should I Watch?: A bunch of reasons. This was ANOTHER show on that Paste list, Vera Farmiga is attractive, it’s not on at 9PM on a Monday, and it’s funny to watch Freddie Highmore and go “That’s the kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?”. OK, none of those are very good reasons. I’ve only watched the first episode. Watch at your own risk!
10:00 – Revolution – “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” – Monroe’s overcome with paranoia when Neville disappears. NBC
Why Should I Watch?: – Let’s see, NBC is a failing network, so why not help them out? The guy that played The Cape is the villain in this, so maybe, just MAYBE, it’s as awesomely bad and fun to make fun of as The Cape was. Or you can watch it just to marvel at how, in a world without power, everyone looks so clean and is wearing clean and pressed clothing.
