Get Ready to Pay for Hulu

In case anyone was interested in knowing, apparently uses are soon going to be charged for Hulu, the website that formerly offered different television shows for free.  This is clearly bad news for anyone who cared whatsoever for Hulu.  In fact, I’d imagine it’s also bad news for Hulu.  Frankly, Hulu is not a good enough service to be able to pull of a sudden switch from free to pricey.

Look at it this way: Hulu doesn’t offer full seasons.  Also, the site manages to have a number of ads.  Also, IT USED TO BE FREE.  The problem is that most people who used Hulu did it simply because it was convenient, and now that it will cost money in 2010 there’s going to be a lot less incentive.  Unless some changes are made to the structure of Hulu and what it offers its users, odds are the site could suffer a serious decrease in popularity soon.  After all, people have other means of seeing these shows.

It’s a pretty shoddy move trying to charge people after offering the service for free.  It just lost the upper hand it had of offering viewers select episodes here and there, and that wasn’t actually an upper hand to begin with.  People can find streaming video of different shows for free all over the place.  This is definitely going to set Hulu back a little bit, unless it makes the changes it needs to not be such a weak pay service.

I suppose I mostly just like saying Hulu.

This is the first I’m hearing about this and it is terrible news. I don’t really use Hulu much myself, as I find that it’s not stealing if shows that air for free are watched for free on the internet(wherever that may be). I took a class on stuff like this in college and I guess they’re just trying to capitalize on their fastest growing market. Why they couldn’t do that with just simply advertisements I don’t understand.
