Here are the discs released today you might want to give a look. Yes, I left a major one out on purpose.
Movies :
Ninja Assassin - One of the most violent movies based around a martial art I’ve seen in a long time. Very bloody, but very fun. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
The Princess and the Frog - Disney’s return to 2D animation with their first ever black princess. I heard good things, but why did they have to turn her into a frog? Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Astro Boy - A newer movie version of the old Japanese cartoon. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Armored - An armored car heist film. Some people I know liked it, but I kind of doubt its ability to be good. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
The Fourth Kind - Did you ever see that trailer with Milla Jovovich when she said “some of what you’re about to see is real”, and they showed video of people talking about a creepy owl outside their window and alien abductions? Well, none of it was real. They made it all up and they did a terrible job trying to fool people into thinking it was real. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Under Great White Northern Lights – The White Stripes 2007 tour of Canada. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Brief Interviews With Hideous Men - John Krasinski makes his directorial debut with a film featuring Will Arnett and Will Forte, so it has to be good right? Oh yeah, Brothers Solomon. This does sound good though. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Broken Embraces - The latest Pedro Almodovar film to also star Penelope Cruz. His films are usually very interesting, and acting in Spanish language films always seems to suit Cruz well. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
TV :
Mystery Science Theater 3000: XVII – If I had the money I’d probably buy all of these, if you have the money you should. Available on DVD.
South Park: The Complete Thirteenth Season - I was going to try and say you need to get this for ‘insert episodes’, but they’re all great. Nothing is off limits to Trey Parker and Matt Stone and I applaud them for that. OK, I do feel like I should say I think ‘The F Word’ should be shown in schools. That word just doesn’t mean what it used to, neither does ‘retarded’. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray.
Breaking Bad: The Complete Second Season - I’ve never seen this show, but what I’ve gathered from hearing about it is a Chemistry teacher finds out he has terminal cancer and starts making crystal meth to fund his treatment. Oh, and it’s supposedly very good. Available on DVD & Blu-Ray. If you’re really into this show, the first season was also just released on Blu-Ray.
