The title of this post is a phrase used by film critic Alonso Duralde describing the insanity that was Crank 2: High Voltage, which was by writing/directing duo Neveldine and Taylor. The pair has written and directed both of the Crank movies, as well as the more recent Gamer. They also wrote a movie called Pathology and the script for the movie Jonah Hex due out sometime this summer.
A couple months ago Neveldine and Taylor set their sites on the world of television. They are writing a piece called “Zeroes” that will deal with the last 60-minutes of a crisis situation. They may also direct the pilot.

That sounds like a cool idea, but confining yourselves to a 60 minute time period sort of leaves out the idea of a series. They did say they will direct the pilot though, so who knows if it could be a series. I’m intrigued because watching the things they make is an event. If it’s not going to be a series I wouldn’t be surprised if they just upped the time to 90 minutes, made it as crazy as they wanted to under Universal, and released it in theaters.
On another note, check out this funny quote posted on NeveldineTaylor.com about the cover for Gamer
just got a sneak preview of the package art for the DVD/BLU-RAY release of GAMER. the good news is that both formats will be amazing under the hood – with stunningly crisp and saturated transfers of the REDCAM original master and hours of amazing bonus content, including picture-in-picture commentary mode and must-see behind the scenes documentaries. the bad news is the box cover looks like a direct-to-video jean-claude van damme piece of shit. unleash him? really?? nice FAIL, guys. (apologies to JCVD).
The things they say about the movie itself make me want to rent it on Blu-Ray to watch it again, I think their commentary would be crazy.
