Since the introduction of Rock Band, the Guitar Hero franchise has undergone somewhat of an identity crisis. It split into the family-friendly Band Hero, DJ Hero, and whatever other kinds of Hero they could think of. Now, they’re claiming they are getting back to the rock that brought them this far, but with a seemingly very odd twist. Check out the first teaser trailer, and 35 known tracks for the game under the cut.

You’re Going to Watch This, Right? – Red Dead Redemption
Tomorrow night at midnight on Fox they’re going to air a short film made entirely of in-game footage from Red Dead Redemption that was directed by John Hillcoat (The Road,The Proposition). Yeah, it’s at midnight, which is pretty late, but it almost brings a tear to your eye knowing that a major network is going to air something made from video game footage. It’s kind of like video games are finally closing in on getting the respect that some of them deserve.
Watch the trailer for it under the cut.
Kane & Lynch 2 – Multiplayer Modes
There was a giant cloud of controversy covering the first Kane & Lynch game. And besides that, a lot of people just didn’t like it. I wasn’t one of those people. I think it was safe to say that up until that point it was the closest thing we had to a video game version of the movie Heat. I still can’t think of any games off the top of head that have done robberies better to this day.
These next few videos have nothing to do with the story of Kane & Lynch 2 though, they’re all multiplayer. The woman that narrates them can get a little weird, and she likes to swear so they’re not safe for work. If these modes work as they’re supposed to, they could be very fun.
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 – Gameplay Time
I’m not going to make “gameplay time” a category, at least I don’t think I am. I just watched this video of a guy playing through an act in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4. It’s called Mad Gear Zone and it looks like the Chemical Zone from Sonic 2(was it chemical zone?). It’s a little frustrating because he messes up on the same part a few times and dies, and the video quality doesn’t seem all that great, but it’s a nice look at the upcoming Sonic game and how awesome it’s going to be. Check it out under the cut.
Backbreaker – The Madden Breaker?
I have to hand it to the people at 505 Games and Natural Motion. They’re really taking a risk by developing an American football game without some huge backing or even an NFL license(also considering that they don’t seem to be American). It does seem to be a refreshing take on the game, and some of the tackles look incredible. Check out the developer diaries under the cut.
A Call to Arms
Very rarely would you be able to talk to a person off the street and have an informed conversation about the video game industry and how it is structured somewhat similarly to the motion picture business. One could blame the major news outlets like Newscorp and CNN for their lack of coverage of the industry, but where are all of the video game journalists in this equation?

An April Fools Joke That Shouldn’t Be
Yesterday Platinum Games, the makers of Bayonetta, released this short clip of Bayonetta as a retro side-scrolling 2D game. They should really consider making this a reality. I think this franchise would do well with toning down the sex and ridiculous story. The music would still grate your nerves though.

Comic Jumper – Trailer Time
This game looks pretty funny and fun. Twisted Pixel is on a roll, and this isn’t going to change that. I’ll let the intro trailer explain what it’s all about and the 10 minute long clip of the actual game give you a taste.
First Footage of the 3DS
This video is straight out of Japan, and in Japanese. It also looks amazing. Nintendo has really stepped it up this time.
