Build Your Fortune in the Virtual World

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On August - 29 - 2012

Guild Wars 2 came out Tuesday (or at 12:01AM midnight Saturday if you’re hardcore). A couple days before that they released this infographic created by an economist about the Guild Wars 2 economy/ economic system. It shed some light on how to make money within the game and what isn’t going to make you much. Like how chests and found gold is the lowest of the low, and questing isn’t going to make you in-game rich. But crafting and crafting materials can make you very rich. Jewelers tend to make much more than other in-game professions.

Anyway, feel free to click on the graph above to enlarge it and see for yourself.

Sony’s Puppeteer

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On August - 15 - 2012

Sony recently announced Puppeteer at Gamescom in Germany, and it looks like a very interesting game. You play as a puppet during a show in a world that moves around you, and you use a pair of scissors as a weapon. Check out the debut trailer and some more info below.

OUYA’s Kickstarter Complete

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On August - 9 - 2012

They asked for $950K, but instead they got over $8.5 million. That’s quite a large difference. If you didn’t get in on the Kickstarter campaign you’ll have to wait until OUYA hits store shelves.

Will Ya OUYA?

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On July - 11 - 2012

Cue the latest Kickstarter success story. OUYA is/will be an open source console running on Android 4.0 (you can find the rest of the technical specs on their Kickstarter page here). It will be $99, allow anyone to publish games on it, encourages hacking, and is hoping to release around March 2013. The founders of OUYA were asking for 950K to finance their project. They met that goal within 8 hours of their campaign and now after 24 hours have over 2.1 million. Are people that hungry to play mobile and freeware style games on their TVs (all OUYA games will be free to play, or at least free to try)?

I’m curious as someone that’s generally interested in video games, but as someone that uses a large television as a PC monitor and plays a lot of smaller games via XBL Indie games and Playstation Plus I don’t know if there’s a use for this for people like me. For instance Cannabalt is one of the games they mention being able to play on your TV, I’ve already played Cannbalt on my TV through PS Plus.

We’ll have to wait and see what kind of games are going to be made available for this console. Only time will tell.

Dawnguard Coming This Summer

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On May - 1 - 2012

Along with the Kinect support patch, Bethesda released some very minor information on the first DLC for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It will be called Dawnguard, and it will be out sometime this summer. More details are scheduled to come out during E3, but there’s some strong suspicion (because of leaked files) that the DLC will contain Snow Elves and crossbows. We’ll find out during E3.

Rainbow 6 Patriots – (Non)Trailer Time

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 17 - 2011

They’re saying this is just a prototype video and is not representative of what the complete game will be, it’s just their ideas for now. Well, it looks pretty damn good already. I’m a huge Rainbow 6 fan, and the saddest thing about this video for me is that this game won’t be coming out until 2013. Check out the video below.

New BioWare Crash-ness

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 8 - 2011

I wanted to say goodness, but this is more accurately described as crashness. It’s hard to figure out what the hell this is supposed to be about. It does look like there is a flaming helmet in the bottom left to me though. What does everyone else think?
