And You Thought It Was Called Arc

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 11 - 2010

Well, it’s not! Yesterday at GDC Sony revealed their motion controller, the Playstation Move. There will be a bundle releasing later this year with the Move, Eye Toy, and a game for under $100. Nintendo, commence freak out.

This is pretty big news for Sony, and even bigger “oh shit” news for Nintendo.  This could greatly cut into the revenue Nintendo gets for cashing in on the market of people who enjoy flailing their arms around with a controller in hand. The Wii is basically a PS2 with motion control.  Soon enough the PS3 is going to have motion control. Nintendo needs to announce the Wii HD at either E3 or the Tokyo Game Show.

I can also see this being way bigger than Microsoft’s Natal. This has an analog stick and actual buttons, while Natal is completely controlled by body movements.  First-Person shooters could be way more fast and precise with a controller like this.  SOCOM 4 will supposedly utilize the Move.

NEW Modern Warfare 2 Maps DATED!

Posted by Andrew Witts On March - 10 - 2010

Everyone who knows me beyond a handshake, has commented on my ridiculous obsession with Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer. I think about the game almost constantly and watch numerous videos on Youtube to see what new tactics are being formulated. Despite my disgusting love for this game, I have been almost ready to take a break for a while because I am sick and tired of playing the same maps over and over again. Each day that passes, I realize that I am playing Estate for the umpteenth time and I just need something new and fresh. It seems like I have less than two weeks before I will be ensnared once again.

According to the viral site, www.mapathy.com, the new maps are coming on MARCH 30, 2010. There is no news or screenshots yet, so you will have to hang on to your bacon but the site promises to update with details very soon.

Thanks to Game Informer for making this huge announcement.

Baaad Company ‘Til the Day I Die

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 10 - 2010

Bad Company 2 is the latest game from DICE/EA that takes part in EA’s struggle to take back dominance in what they believe to be rightfully theirs, the first-person shooter genre. When the last time they feel like they had said dominance I am not sure.

You play as Preston Marlowe, a member of a four-man military squad known as B-Company. It’s where they put the misfits, and apparently their branch of the military only has four misfits.  After the first game ending with your squad getting away with some trucks full of gold you’re all back for another adventure. I don’t think they mention why exactly you’re back shooting people.

Is this game what EA has been looking for to take the FPS throne from Modern Warfare 2?

Everything is All Wet

Posted by Andrew Witts On March - 10 - 2010

A few years ago when the next generation consoles were first being announced, Quanitc Dream released a technical demo of their new game called Heavy Rain. The demo showed a startlingly life-like woman on the screen delivering an intense monologue about the loss of her son and how she desperately wants revenge. After the video of the demo went live on the internet, Playstation fans had a new weapon in their arsenal against other systems. Years later and  Heavy Rain has finally been released on the Playstation 3. Does the game reignite that flame that coursed throughout the industry or does it arrive all wet?

OnLive to go Live

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 10 - 2010

The magic makers over at OnLive have announced that the service will begin June 17th of this year and the subscription price will be roughly $15. Onlive allows people with less than stellar PCs to play games their PC wouldn’t normally be able to handle by actually running the game on a remote machine.  Something like that.  It all sounds like magic-man nonsense to me.  I hope it works well though.

In Like A Lion, Out With Lamb

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 10 - 2010

Bioshock 2 is a game that really shouldn’t have a sequel. The way I remember the ending of the first game, because I harvested a couple of the little sisters, was that everyone in Rapture (including the splicers) got out and ran rampant on the world.  But, now suddenly everyone is back.

The developers promised the story would make sense even for the people that played the first game. They also promised it’d be more challenging than the first, with less of an abundance of vita-chambers (where you re-spawn when you die).  Did they deliver?

Modern Warfare 2 Just Got More Cinematic

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 9 - 2010

I don’t really like to re-post things from another website without anything new to add, but I saw this video on Kotaku and feel like for what the guy was trying to do he greatly succeeded.  So, I think you should see it. If you haven’t played through Modern Warfare 2 it’ll spoil a few things.

When you first start to watch it you’ll think, ‘this isn’t No Russian’, but give it a minute, it’ll all make sense.

Lightsaber! Brick! Fight!

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 5 - 2010

This is probably one of the coolest Star Wars related Lego videos you’ll ever see.  While you’re watching it and are in awe of how great it is think about this; the person who made this did it for a contest.  It makes it even better when you know a non-professional made this in their spare time.

What Do You Do if You Run One Franchise Into the Ground?

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 3 - 2010

Do it with everything you own! DUH! At least that’s Activision’s plan. After their ‘Hero’ games hit saturation level and stopped making them billions of dollars Activision had to ‘go back to the drawing board’. With the lackluster sales of Tony Hawk’s most recent game they couldn’t go there. So, they thought ‘Hey, Call of Duty just made us even richer than we were, by a lot, why don’t we exploit that and make the public sick of that franchise?’

The Ridiculousness of Error 8001050F Continues – UPDATED TWICE!

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 1 - 2010

I was going to just update the last post, but I feel this deserves its own.  Sony is now recognizing that the error 8001050F is being caused by a clock bug in older PS3 models. Check out what Sony has said about it…
