I don’t own any Tom Waits albums, but I can definitely appreciate his music. A little more so when it’s being lip synced by Cookie Monster. Check out the video below.

The video for “Good” blew my mind! It wasn’t even because of the effects that look like floating ink blot, it was because halfway into the song the drummer is playing a cymbal and a snare drum sound is coming out. It’s all madness!. Check out the video for “Good” Below.

The Horrors are a pretty good band. I haven’t heard much of their stuff, but what I have heard I have liked. They might look a bit ridiculous, which does tend to affect music videos, but the song is good. Check out their video for “Still Life” below.
Crystal Antlers – Two-Way Mirror

Two-Way Mirror is an odd, and hard album to define. It’s post-hardcore and post-punk while sometimes sounding like an ode to the rock of the 60′s/70′s. It’s definitely an album worth checking out. Which you can do here.
The Flaming Lips with Lightning Bolt with The Flaming Lips

I just listened to the 12″ collaboration between psych-pop band The Flaming Lips & noise band Lightning Bolt, and all I really have to say is that it sounds exactly like you’d expect a collaboration between the two bands to sound. Side A is The Flaming Lips featuring Lightning Bolt while Side B is Lightning Bolt featuring The Flaming Lips. You can check out the songs here.
Portugal. The Man – In the Mountain In the Cloud

In the Mountain In the Cloud is the Pacific Northwest band’s seventh album and first for major-label Atlantic. I had never heard a Portugal. The Man album before this one, and since listening to it I have checked out their older stuff. I said that because their previous label was Equal Vision, and having liked some bands that were on Equal Vision I was pretty sure most of their acts were metal or hardcore. Turns out I was wrong, but that, for some reason, made me very surprised when I heard In the Mountain In the Cloud. It reminds me of psych-pop bands like Supergrass, Of Montreal, and MGMT. That’s not a bad thing at all, but it seems like they’re going for Bowie, but they end up sounding like a product of bands influenced by Bowie rather than Bowie himself. Check this album out if you’re into MGMT, Of Montreal, Supergrass, etc.

Zomby – Dedication

Dedication is the second album for the dubstep/grime producer Zomby, and his first for 4AD. The easiest way to describe it in a way most people would understand is a slightly sped up Burial. I don’t think many Burial fans would have a problem with this album, but it doesn’t have the same chill atmosphere as a lot of his work does. It also goes a lot broader than just dubstep and goes into almost dance music territory on a couple of shorter songs. This album is a bit of a genre-hopper, but it stays electronic.
The only glaring downside is that it’s only 35 minutes long, but then that’s kind of reflected in the price for the album on Amazon, so that nullifies it.
I’ll definitely be giving this a few more spins in the future and I’d recommend this for fans of electronic music in general.

Yeah, that’s right, three exclamation points! Oh hey, one more. Mastodon, who released what was unanimously our favorite album of 2009, just released a new single for Adult Swim. It is AWESOME. I love Mastodon AND Adult Swim. I don’t feel like Adult Swim loves me back though. Why don’t you love me back Adult Swim? I love your stuff!!
