I first heard this band about a month ago while listening to the “Grizzly Bear” station on Last.fm, but I couldn’t really remember their name. I did some looking and voila! I found this video of this awesome song. The song is called “Collector” and if it doesn’t get you tapping your foot you might be dead. Check it out below the cut.

I was having trouble trying to think of what to do for MVotW when I realized “Hey, I can do as I please.” So then I thought “God I love me some Coheed and Cambria.” Then I talked with myself about the weather, and upcoming movies, and then we talked about family. It was a nice little chat until I remembered I was writing a post for the site and needed to stop talking to myself. Anyway, ‘Here We Are Juggernaut’ is an awesome song, and it’s even better to hear live. Which I have. Awesome. You can hear it off their album ‘Year of the Black Rainbow’ which is just outstanding.

Since Jamie’s still out of commission, I’m hijacking all of his usual stuff, like MVotW. Why? Because I can, that’s why. A week ago Childish Gambino released his latest album ‘Culdesac’ online. Along with this, on his website he threw a few videos on there of himself performing a few songs. You may notice that Childish Gambino looks familiar. That’s because he’s none other than Donald Glover, comedy actor of Derrick Comedy and The Community (the guy I still think should have been Spider-Man). He’s also a sick rapper and his cover of “Over” by Drake is pretty good. You can download his album for free on his site right now, which I would do if I were you. Actually, I am doing it. So there.

A month ago The Black Keys released what is one of the most solid albums of the year(maybe someday I’ll get to a review). Anyway, this is another one of those cases where I couldn’t decide which video to choose, so I’m including two. The first one “Tighten Up” is a pretty funny video. The second video “Next Girl” seems to actually be the official Black Keys video. If your place of employment would frown on you watching a video featuring women in bikinis, then it’s probably NSFW to you.

How to Destroy Angels is a new band formed by Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) along with his wife Mariqueen Maandig, and Atticus Ross. Yeah, it sounds a good amount like Nine Inch Nails with a woman, but their first video is pretty cool in a weird way. Check it out under the cut.
Music Video of the Week – She & Him

She & Him is one part Zooey Deschanel and one part M. Ward – together they make a lovable indie folk duo! Zooey Deschanel has a beautiful, brassy, resonant singing voice. I first heard her sing when I was watching Elf, only one of my most favorite movies of all time that I may or may not watch at least three times every winter. Apparently this is how M. Ward first heard her sing, too, before they were even introduced!
“In the Sun” is a song off of their new album, Volume Two, which follows the smashing success of their first album, Volume One (2008). This is a really fun video, reminiscent of Grease because of the retro high school setting and group choreography. Plus, Zooey Deschanel is adorable as always. I want her clothes.
