Keep It Gangsta War Machine

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On May - 4 - 2010

New Era recently released a series of seven Iron Man 2 themed hats. The patent leather War Machine hat is above.

I just spotted these on IGN.com and I can’t wait to see kids like my nephew wearing these hats with the stickers still on the brim. Check out the other six Iron Man 2 themed hats under the cut.

A Nightmare Indeed

Posted by Andrew Witts On May - 2 - 2010

If you have been alive for the past two months then you have heard about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake that has slithered its way into theaters over the weekend. I must admit that I had absolutely no want to pay to see this film with my own money, however someone graciously pony’d up the dough so that I could watch this re-imagining of one of horror’s biggest icons. Does it remotely scratch the surface of the original or is this just another money-making scheme via Michael Bay and his assembly line remake machine, Platinum Dunes?

I Say Thee Yay

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On April - 30 - 2010

Yes folks, that is in fact the first image revealed of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, God of Thunder.  In all his chain mail glory.  Thankfully he isn’t bare-armed, bare-legged, as he is depicted in older Thor comics.  Instead they have opted for some serious awesomeness with the more modern costume present since the title’s return to print a couple years ago.  Red cape: check.  Silver discs on his chest: check.  Flowing blond hair: check.  Manly Ultimate Thor beardface: check.  Yes, it’s all here except for the winged helmet and his mighty hammer Mjolner, which I’m sure are soon to be revealed.

Please Knock Me Out

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 20 - 2010

I’ve seen all of the Broken Lizard movies (except for Puddle Cruiser) up until now. A lot of people put Super Troopers on a pedestal as some amazing comedy, but the truth is it’s a decent movie. Club Dread was pretty awful. Beerfest was entertaining and I remember laughing at it more than any other Broken Lizard movie. So, where does The Slammin’ Salmon stack up?

The Slammin’ Salmon is a movie about a Miami restaurant owned by a retired boxer named  “Slammin” Cleon Salmon.  He gets into a gambling debt with the head of the Yakuza over a Japanese albino hunting bet and needs his restaurant to make $20,000 in a single night so he can pay the Yakuza boss. The only problem is the most they’ve made in a night is around $15,000. So, the manager offers a prize to whatever waiter makes the most money that night in order to make the restaurant the money its owner needs.

Pitch Sized Reviews – She’s Out of My League

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 15 - 2010

Here we go…

You hope for similar greatness to 40 Year Old Virgin, but you get a by the book late 80′s early 90′s RomCom complete with a crazy ending.

Phew! Oh yeah, “80′s” and “90′s” don’t count as words in that. If you’ve seen this film I welcome you to post your own review in 25 words or less in the comments.

This is kind of worth watching for his friend Stainer. He’s a pretty funny character.  Part cliche asshole friend and part Napoleon Dynamite.

Action Movie Fans Rejoice

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 14 - 2010

The first(as far as I know) film festival for action films starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday in Asheville, North Carolina. Some of the movies that will be shown include the awesome looking Harry Brown, Centurion, Raging Phoenix, Mandrill, District 13: Ultimatum, 14 Blades, and The Good, The Bad, The Weird. Also, on Sunday Chuck Norris will be there to receive a lifetime achievement award. If I could afford to send my father to this I definitely would. Check below the cut for the official press statement, ActionFest trailer, and trailers for the movies I mentioned above.

The Other Guys – Trailer Time

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 13 - 2010

The trailer for this debuted Friday and it looks really funny. This seems like Will Ferrell completely in his element. It could be a steaming pile though. It’s so hard to judge Ferrell movies based on their trailers. We’ve all been burned too many times.

More Elbows and Elephants

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 13 - 2010

It’s pretty funny that the day after I posted a review for Ong Bak 2 a trailer for Ong Bak 3 surfaced.  There’s still a whole bunch of Tony Jaa kicking ass and him using elephants as a weapon, but there also seems to be more ‘magic’ (boo).

Star Wars Uncut is Coming to a Galaxy Very Very Close

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 13 - 2010

Sometime soon to be a little more precise. The project that tasked fans with recreating 15-second clips of  A New Hope is finished and will be shown at a Danish festival April 19th.  It will also be going to NYC sometime in the near future.

Below the the cut is the trailer for the whole film as well as three clips produced by Malcolm Sutherland. Hopefully all three of his clips will be in the final version of Star Wars uncut because they’re great.

You can check out all the clips submitted for the entire project here. You might need a Vimeo account to view some of them.
