About a year and a half ago, the original creator of the Prince of Persia series, Jordan Mechner, told the world that the film production of his creation was a fantastic representation of his games. He assured the fans that he was directly involved in the direction of the film and was on set for the filming of most of the sequences. Well, I am a Prince of Persia fan and I am here to tell you that Jordan Mechner is a total liar who fooled his fan base with the usual empty promises that Hollywood executives are normally the culprit of. Mike Newell’s (or should I say Jerry Bruckheimer’s?) film starts off strong, but ultimately becomes a complete waste of production money and your valuable time. Is this because the movie deviates from the game version?

When Titans Pimp-Slap
Kick-Ass is a movie about a guy named Dave Lizewski who’s maybe just crazy enough to attempt being a superhero. After he and his friends get mugged so many times, but mostly because he’s bored with his life, Dave decides to give being a superhero a try. He buys a weird looking wetsuit and mask and starts walking around town in costume trying to get the hang of it. The first time he actually tries to intervene in a crime he gets stabbed and then hit by a passing car.
The stabbing/accident gives him nerve damage, which dulls his ability to feel pain, and way more metal plates in his body than the one he had in his head in the comic. After a while he sets out as Kick Ass again. The next time he encounters a crime he ends up saving a guy from getting beaten to death in a parking lot while an onlooker films the whole thing. That’s the part when he yells “I’m Kick-Ass”. The video gets posted on Youtube and he becomes an internet sensation.
Super 8 – Trailer Time
Bicycle Kick Those Carnivorous Fish
Mega Piranha is a low-budget movie made by the ‘mockbuster’ giant The Asylum (the people that made Transmorphers and Snakes on a Train). In Mega Piranha a team of scientists attempted to genetically alter fish in the Orinoco river of Venezuela to be larger thus producing more food for Venezuelan’s. But, the experiment has gone terribly wrong. They thought they killed all the specimen of piranha that were enlarged(why would you want to make a piranha bigger?), but they discover that some got into the Orinoco.
After a school of piranha eat an American diplomat and the boat he is on, a politician in D.C. (played by the Brady Bunch’s Barry Williams) sends a special forces operative to Venezuela to find out what happened. He bumps heads with the Venezuelan Colonel Diaz who doesn’t want to listen to him or any of the scientists who are trying to warn him about the mega piranha. Diaz later learns of the mega piranha’s existence and instead of listening to the scientists advice on how to kill them while keeping them in the part of the river where they are dammed, he decides to kill them by using horribly rendered CGI missiles. That’s where ‘all hell breaks loose’, or just the piranha
Inception – Trailer Time
Have I really not posted anything about Inception yet? I figured I would have, but must have totally spaced on it. Anyway, Inception is easily my most anticipated film of the entire summer movie season. Sure, other movies look cool, but this movie looks AMAZING.
Check out the third official trailer under the cut. I’m going to have to get the first two up at some point.
Machete – Trailer Time
This trailer surfaced on AICN sometime this past week and I didn’t watch it/pay much attention to it because I thought it was just a political statement made by Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriguez. Well, I was wrong and it’s a full trailer with a political statement at the beginning. Check it out under the cut.
This movie is going to be awesome. Oh yeah, the trailer features some language that may be inappropriate for children.
Repulsor BLAST!
Here we are for the first blockbuster film of the big money summer movie season with Iron Man 2. Jon Favreau’s first bout with the titular Marvel Comics character was such an overwhelming success both financially and critically that his return for the sequel certainly kept all eyes focused on the new tricks that he would have up his sleeve for the next installment. With front man Robert Downey Jr. still donning the suit with some new and old faces, does this big budget follow-up blow the doors down, or does Iron Man 2 fizzle out before it even gets going?

The American – Trailer Time
Here’s the first trailer for The American starring George Clooney. Is the premise original? No, but Clooney makes most of the movies he is in worth watching.
