An Interview With “The Great Showdowns” Artist Scott Campbell

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 5 - 2012

Recently I had the opportunity to talk with artist Scott Campbell about his book “The Great Showdowns”, and a little bit about movies and being an art director for Double Fine.

Mr. Campbell’s book ”The Great Showdowns” is a great book filled with drawings from what he believes to be the greatest showdown between two characters or two things in a particular movie. None of the drawings tell you what movie it is, so it creates a sort of group game/activity where you can work together with people to figure out what movie each drawing represents.

Check out the interview below.

Here’s a cool short film … It’s not exactly animated, but still pretty sweet. I found out about it through Futures+ Design (find them on Facebook and tell any friends interested in [architectural] design!). It’s “an insanely awesome blend between street art, graphic design, and cinema”.

Check the video out below.

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 19 - 2011

Dave Rapoza seems to really like doing “realistic” versions of cartoons from his childhood. His most recent set is Masters of the Universe characters. He also did a fairly large set of characters from from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You can check out a few more examples below.
