Weekend Wonderer – MST3K

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On February - 6 - 2010

Wondering what to do this weekend other than watch the Super Bowl Sunday night? How about a little Mystery Science Theater 3000? Yes, the hilarious show where Joel or Mike watch terrible B-movies with their robot pals Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo only to make jokes about them the whole time.  There’s a pretty good amount of the show streaming instantly on Netflix. So, if you took my advice from last week, went crazy watching Lost, and now don’t know what to do , check MST3K out. Video sample under the cut.

If you’re into the type of humor they have to offer check out Rifftrax.com, it’s Mike and the guys who voice Crow and Tom Servo ripping on current movies. You can buy the audio track and sync it to a DVD you already own.

Weekend Wonderer – Lost

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On January - 30 - 2010

Catch up on Lost, that’s what you should do.  Seriously though, season 6 starts Tuesday Feb 2nd and you’re going to be left out of all the ‘cool people’ conversations unless you know what’s going on in this show.  It’s mathematically impossible (i’m pretty sure) to watch every season before Tuesday if you’ve never seen the show, but you should start as soon as you can. I’m still catching up myself (almost done with season 5). Details/comments below the cut.

Weekend Wonderer – The Mighty Boosh Series 1

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On January - 23 - 2010

I know what you’re thinking right now. It’s Saturday and you don’t really have anything to do today, so you want to kick back and watch something.  Well, I have something for you to check out,  The Mighty Boosh:  Series 1. You may be familiar with this hilarious show if you watch Adult Swim regularly on Sunday nights (it’s now on the British block Friday nights). I could tell you to buy it on Amazon.com, but that isn’t going to do you any good for this weekend. Buying it on the iTunes store will definitely work though. You can find it here.

In the first season of The Mighty Boosh Howard Moon and Vince Noir are two zookeepers at the Zooniverse, a place that employs its own shaman and has a talking gorilla. The two get into weird situations that will often cause them to break into song. It’s a wild ride and I would also recommend buying this on iTunes to people who have already seen the episodes on Adult Swim as well, because they’re 28 minutes a piece instead of the 22 Cartoon Network shows. It’s well worth the $14. Click the cut for some clips from Series 1.
