Video of the Week – Darksiders

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On December - 30 - 2009

Two notable games come out next Tuesday.  They are Darksiders and Bayonetta.  I’m looking forward to Bayonetta a little more than I am Darksiders, but I know Andrew is super excited for Darksiders, so as a favor to him I’m featuring that instead.  There’s a Bayonetta trailer under the cut also though .

Both games look similar in style, except Darksiders relies more on exploration than just combat.

Video of the Week!! – Mass Effect 2

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On December - 24 - 2009

I know this game doesn’t release until January 26th, but a cinematic trailer was released this Tuesday that could fight the Iron Man 2 trailer (give me a few minutes to get that up) for the title of  “Coolest Thing You’ll See All Week”.  I’m not going to say anything else, because this is really just one of those videos where you should watch immediately.

Video of the Week!! – Sherlock Holmes

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On December - 19 - 2009

I’ve been sick for the last….about 12 or so days and I was honestly thinking of just leaving the Avatar video up until next week, but I just can’t.  This Sherlock Holmes movie just looks too cool to me and I’ll feel as though I neglected it by not showing it some pre-release love. So without any more jibba-jabba here’s the trailer for Sherlock Holmes.

Video of the Week!! – Avatar

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On December - 9 - 2009

Or should I say James Cameron’s Avatar?  Seeing as a large group of people still think the movie Avatar is based on the cartoon.  Well, this is an entirely different idea.  It’s more like if someone posed as a Smurf to gain their trust because smurf berries were worth a lot of money. Yeah, that makes more sense.  This movie looks pretty, but I think the jury’s still out on whether it will actually be good.  Oh, Michelle Rodriguez is in it? That’s a minus right there.

Video of the Week!! – The Saboteur

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 30 - 2009

the_saboteur

The Saboteur is probably the last notable console game coming out in 2010 (it comes out 12/8) since all of the other games scheduled to release this year ran in fear of Modern Warfare 2.  The game looks cool, but I’m going to hold on to my skepticism.  I thought Mercenaries 2 would be great, and it wasn’t. This, as far as I know, will be the last game released under the Pandemic name, so hopefully they go out with a bang.

I also included a trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for all you Zelda/Nintendo fans. It comes out on the DS 12/7.

Video of the Week!! – Rogue Warrior

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 27 - 2009

rogue warrior

This game comes out December 1st.  It’s on my Gamefly queue, but I’m honestly not that excited about it (there’s just really nothing else next week).  It looks decent, but I don’t have high hopes for it.  I’m pretty sure it’s based on a book by a guy who went through what the story is about and Mickey Rourke voices the main character, so those are cool. Check out the non-gameplay trailer below.

Video of the Week!! – Ninja Assassin

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 19 - 2009

I was SUPER excited for this movie until I found out that the guy starring in it is a Koren pop star/dancer.  After knowing that I’m still pretty excited for it.  This is the kind of movie that my father and I are going to go see right when it comes out because if there’s martial arts and explosions he can’t wait too long to see it.

Video of the Week – Assassin’s Creed 2

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 9 - 2009

assassins_creed_2While the premise of the game may not be the best, and the first game was hated by many for its repetition, Assassin’s Creed 2 is coming whether you like it or not.  Given a few looks at the game it seems vastly improved over the first.  I hope they’re not fooling us again.  After all the expectations they set with Far Cry 2 and the first Assassin’s Creed it’s hard not to be suspicious of Ubisoft. You have to admit, the trailer makes it look very cool.

Christmas is coming up faster than most people realize and with that comes the release of more high-profile games.  Left 4 Dead 2 will also be released on November 17th. While I recognize the anger of the people who think it should be DLC or a less than $60 disc, all I have to offer those who feel that way is that it will $40 at Kmart on Black Friday. If the trailer here doesn’t make you want to play it, it’s probably not for you.

And lastly, i wanted to post a video from John Woo’s Red Cliff.  It’s a Chinese war film set in the 3rd century and it looks quite epic. It was released summer of 2008 in China, but it releases in America November 20th.

Video of the Week!! – Modern Warfare 2

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On November - 3 - 2009

modern-warfare-2One week from today Modern Warfare 2 comes out in stores.  If you didn’t know that, you either don’t care about video games or you live under a rock somewhere.  This is the game that has sent most other big-budget games running for the first few months of 2010.  And in the current state of the economy I think if Modern Warfare 2 sells as many copies as Modern Warfare did it will be a success.

I also want to include a trailer from Wes Anderson’s newest film Fantastic Mr. Fox.  It’s a stop-motion animation film with a great voice cast based on Roald Dahl’s book and it looks great.

Video of the Week!! – Dragon Age: Origins

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On October - 26 - 2009

dragon age origins

This week’s video of the week is from one of my most anticipated games of the year, Dragon Age: Origins.  This is the CG Sacred Ashes trailer that BioWare posted on their Youtube page a couple of weeks ago, it gives a bit of insight on how to use your party to defeat foes.  The game comes out on the PC, 360, and PS3 November 3rd.

I also wanted to include a trailer for what is most likely going to be one of the funniest movies of the year, The Men Who Stare at Goats. It you haven’t seen a trailer for this yet you’re in for a treat. It will be released in theaters November 6th.
