After being in awe of the demo shown at E3 last summer I almost can’t believe God of War 3 is coming out next Tuesday. Well, it’s almost here. And, here is one of the latest trailers for it.
Also included is a trailer for Repo Men, the new Jude Law movie. It looks like a decent action/hero on the run movie.
This movie looks sweet. It kind of makes me wonder why Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon don’t want to do anymore Bourne movies, because this one looks kind of similar. Paul Greengrass is directing this movie too, even weirder. Anyway, it looks like a good action movie.
I also wanted to feature a trailer from The Secret of Kells. It’s nominated for an Oscar for Animated Feature Film, but it doesn’t release until March 12th. I heard they ran it for a week somewhere so it could be nominated. Not sure how I feel about that, but check out the trailer.
It’s crazy to think that March 2010 is already just a week away. Releasing during the first week of March will be the highly anticipated Battlefield: Bad Company 2. No, the gaming industry is not planning on giving your wallet a break. This game looks very cool. I’ve never been big on games that have vehicles in multiplayer, but this one looks pretty fun. Multiplayer gameplay video and campaign trailer under the cut. I posted the campaign trailer before, but that’s only half of what this game is made of.
Coming out later that first week of March will be Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. I remember seeing the trailer for that before another 3D movie and thinking the 3D in the trailer for Alice in Wonderland was better than the 3D in the movie I saw.
This movie seems to have been made by someone who really loves Robert Rodriguez movies. I like Robert Rodriguez movies though, so that’s ok. Prepare yourself for the ridiculousness of Snowblind.
I also wanted to post a trailer for a new Woody Harrelson movie called Defendor. He plays a guy who thinks he’s a vigilante super-hero, but is terrible at it. Not quite sure if it’s supposed to be funny or sad though.
This weeks Video of the Week is Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and looks freaking CRAZY. They obviously changed the release date from October of last year. It is now February 19th of this year. I don’t really know what to say about it other than it’s based on a novel. The trailer should interest you enough.
The other video I’m going to feature is The Ghost Writer, the latest movie from Roman Polanski. It opens the same day as Shutter Island and looks like another thriller worthy of your time.
Given the choice between featuring one of the two games that come out next Tuesday I chose Dante’s Inferno. Yes, it looks a little derivative of God of War, but I don’t trust Bioshock 2 to be as good as the first game was. I also couldn’t even find a trailer for Bioshock 2 that I wanted to use.
The second video under the cut is for The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro. I was excited to hear that they went with an R-rated cut for this and really hope it’s actually good.
This week’s video of the week is a trailer for the movie From Paris With Love. It looks kind of ridiculous, but it was written by the man behind Taken and The Professional, so it should be fun. I’m not really a fan of Travolta or Meyers, but I think I could watch them in this.
The other video I want to post with it is also French, and coincidentally presented by Luc Besson (the man who wrote From Paris With Love). It’s the sequel to District B13, and called District 13: Ultimatum. If you like parkour and ridiculous action, you’ll be into this movie.
Oh, snap! It’s almost time for what is my most anticipated game of the entire year, Mass Effect 2, to be released. I loved the first game and am so excited that the second is going to be released in a little over a week. I am usually a hang back and pick enemies off type of player, but I played through Mass Effect first as a Vanguard, so I want to show everyone how good of a decision I made and post that video under the cut. I have to re-feature the cinematic trailer in the sidebar though. That trailer and the great writing in the series is the perfect proof that a CG Mass Effect movie would most likely be incredible.
In order to not give ALL the love to Mass Effect 2 I want to take some time to say I’m liking how Edge of Darkness, the latest Mel Gibson (yeah, I know a lot of people hate him now) movie is looking. Trailer for that as well after the cut.
This week’s Video of the Week is Legion, the movie in which archangel Michael (played by Paul Bettany), tries to save humanity from God’s wrath and the apocalypse. It sounds ridiculous because it will be ridiculous. It shouldn’t take away from anyone’s desire to see this movie though. Well, unless you’re the kind of person who only watches Criterion Collection films and claims The Bicycle Thief is the greatest film of all time. Those people should not see Legion.
Also, Andrew covered what Dark Void is like in his Demo Impression of it. I wanted to post a couple trailers for it to give you a look for yourselves.
The plot summary that Warner Bros. has released makes it seem like a story about an unimportant man walking through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but Denzel Washington is in it so it can’t be THAT dumb. The trailer makes it seem like everyone’s fighting over the bible. I was going to say the plot may sound dumb but at least it looks cool, but I can’t even lie to myself like that. It looks ridiculous, in the fight scenes the trailer shows it looks like everyone fights very slowly. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to see it, it’s just going to be one of those movies that requires you to not nitpick.
The second trailer this week is for Army of Two: The 40th Day. The first game was kind of terrible, but supposedly this one is going to be way better. One of the multiplayer modes is locked for the first month unless you pre-order the game, which is a sure way to gain hatred towards release. This one looks like a rental.
