Fringe – Sci-Friday

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On February - 4 - 2011

Another feature I haven’t done in a while.

If you aren’t watching Fringe you are BLOWING IT! This is one the best shows you can watch on TV with or without a subscription. It’s on Fox tonight at 9, so watch it.  I’d go more in depth about what makes it one of the best shows, but I’ll save that for the Best Shows of 2010.

Sci-Friday – Futurama

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 18 - 2010

Futurama – It’s only six days away! Too bad that the season premiere of Futurama has to be on the furthest day to still qualify for this week’s Sci-Friday. Either way, this is going to be awesome and you need to watch it. It starts Thursday the 24th at 10PM on Comedy Central, and that episode will be an hour long.

Doctor Who - The Doctor and Co. face the Silurian’s in an episode called “Cold Blood”. It will air Saturday night at 9PM on BBC America. If Amy Pond dies I might hate this show afterward. Promo below the cut.

Through the Wormhole – Wednesday at 10PM on Science Channel they’ll be discussing whether time travel is possible.

Sci-Friday – True Blood

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 11 - 2010

True Blood - Vampires count as sci-fi right? Well, maybe it’s more fantasy, but I’m pretty sure living off of blood as vampires do is in fact scientifically inaccurate, which makes it science fiction. The season premiere is at 9PM Sunday night on HBO.

Stargate Universe – The second part of the season finale “Incursion” airs on SyFy at 9PM tonight. If you missed the first part you can catch it at 8PM. Check out a sneak peak below the cut

Doctor Who - This Saturday Night at 9PM BBC America will air “The Hungry Earth” where ‘monsters’ are discovered deep within the Earth. Check out a clip below.

Through the Wormhole – This coming Wednesday at 10PM on Science Channel the episode “The Riddle of Black Holes” will air. I’ll try to get a promo for this up once they release one.

Sci-Friday – Through the Wormhole

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

Through the Wormhole - Maybe it’s time to bring a little more Science to Sci-Friday. On Wednesday June 9th at 10PM on Science Channel, Through the Wormhole hosted by Morgan Freeman(he’s in everything) will make its debut. It claims it will “explore the deepest mysteries of existence”. A promo video that may or may not be saying some people think that The Matrix is real is below the cut.

Doctor Who - Time Lord vs “Dream Lord”. Amy’s pregnant and Rory has a ponytail. What the hell is going on? This airs Saturday at 9PM on BBC America. Trailer below the cut.

Sci-Trek - On the episode “Catch a Liar” they look into the technology used in ‘deception detection’. It airs Monday at 9PM  on Science Channel

Mythbusters - On “Flu Fiction”, this coming Wednesday at 9PM on The Discovery Channel, the team looks at what I’m guessing must be Flu myths. Check out an awesome sneezing clip from the show below.

Sci-Friday – Robocop

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On May - 28 - 2010

Robocop - Today’s as good as any to finish the trio of what were really awesome Paul Verhoeven films (Robocop, Total Recall, & Starship Troopers). The story of a cop in crime riddled Detroit (present-day Detroit?) who is murdered and then brought back to life, but without his memory, as the cyborg Robocop.  If you haven’t seen it, you need to.

Doctor Who – There will be a marathon Saturday of all the episodes that have been aired on BBC America so far from 8PM – 2AM. Six hours of the Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy Pond? If you miss this it’s really your loss.

Lost - The series finale is going to air again at 8PM for anyone who missed it that isn’t waiting until DVD/Blu-Ray. Spoiler Alert – it’s kind of lame.

Sci-Friday – Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On May - 14 - 2010

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure - A movie about two slacker friends who are trying to start a band, and because of that aren’t doing too great in school. Unless Ted passes his history class his dad is going to send him to military school. In order to prevent this from happening a man named Rufus from the future tells the duo that unless they remain together the future of humanity is doomed. So, in order to prevent Ted from failing history he lets them use his time-traveling phone booth to gather information for Ted’s report. They accidentally kidnap Napoleon and then decide to kidnap a bunch of other historical figures in order to pass. Uhh…San Dimas High School football rules!!

Smallville -The season finale titled “Salvation” airs tonight at 8 EST on the CW. Promo below the cut.

Stargate Universe - New episode “Pain” airs tonight on SyFy at 9 EST. Check out the promo below the cut.

Doctor Who – “Flesh and Stone” is another creepy weeping angels episode. It airs Saturday at 9 EST on BBC America. Check out the promo below the cut.

Sci-Friday – Robot Holocaust

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On May - 8 - 2010

Did you think it being Saturday would deter me from still doing Sci-Friday? No way.

Robot Holocaust – This week I wanted to feature something that everyone could have the opportunity to see, so I decided to try and find something in the sci-fi section on Hulu. I spotted this ‘gem’ and checked out the synopsis, I haven’t seen it myself, but I’m definitely going to be watching it.  DO NOT go into it expecting a good movie. This should be considered sci-fi comedy at best. Allow me to apologize in advance in case it really sucks. Because it’s from Hulu I’m able to post it here, so check it out under the cut.

Doctor Who – The Doctor is back with a brand new episode tonight at 9PM on BBC America titled “The Time of Angels”. Check out the promo under the cut.

Sci-Friday – Mass Effect

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 23 - 2010

Mass Effect – This is a fantastic game.  It came out in late 2007 for the Xbox 360 and early 2008 for the PC. In it you play as Commander Shepard(male or female depending on your choice), the first human to become a spectre, and the galaxy’s best hope for survival. You are tasked with tracking down Saren, a rogue spectre, who is enacting a plot to destroy the known galaxy with the aid of the inorganic race the geth.

If you have an Xbox 360 and haven’t gotten a chance to play this game it’s currently available in Games on Demand.  Whether it’s available the same way for Windows I am unsure.

Stargate Universe – New episode titled “Human” airs tonight at 9PM EST on SyFy. Promo below the cut.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - New episode called “Death Trap” airs tonight at 9PM on Cartoon Network.  Short clip under the cut.

Doctor Who - Tomorrow night at 9PM on BBC America brand new episode  “The Beast Below” will air. Promo of the episode under the cut.
