Left 4 Dead’s Sacrifice

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On September - 23 - 2010

If you’re a Left 4 Dead fan you’re going to want to check out the “Sacrifice” comic, which you can read right now over here. “Sacrifice” is leading up to DLC that will be released October 5th. It starts off with the survivors being saved at the end of the Farmhouse showdown and being brought to a military compound. Right now there are two of the fours parts available to read. The first tells a little of Louis’ back-story, while the second deals with Zoe’s. Both story’s also show them dealing with their current situation in the compound. They’re definitely worth the time.

The third part will be put up on that same website September 28th.

I was going to say something lame like “words cannot express how excited I am for this show”, but let’s just say they can and I’m really freaking excited.

Webcomic of the Week – Awkward Zombie

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 19 - 2010

Katie Tiedrich does a webcomic about video games, primarily Pokémon.  That sounds pretty common and straightforward, right?  Wrong, bitch.  Awkward Zombie is a triumph of hilarity.  Remember how much you used to like physical comedy and the dynamics of character design and all that?  Whatever your answer is is wrong, because when I said “used to” it was a trap.  You still do love those things.  Which is why you should certainly love Awkward Zombie.

Read These, Burn the Rest – September 15th, 2010

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 16 - 2010

Busy past couple weeks folks.  But hey, I am writing a book, so get off my ass, loyal readers.  Nah, I still love you.  So here are some comics that you should be able to tolerate this week.  And if you can’t?  Well, then, we can’t be friends any more.  That’s just the way it is.  That reminds me, I should look up some Tupac.

Webcomic of the Week – Persimmon Cup

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 12 - 2010

Nick Bertozzi’s Persimmon Cup is a really interesting fantasy story about a young man named Garo and a girl named Persimmon who are on the run.  While the entire nature of the danger they’re in doesn’t necessarily seem to be clear, what we do know is this: Garo has something that people either want returned to its place of origin or for themselves.  It’s a little cube that seems to have some sort of power and while it often has harmful effects to others, Persimmon included, Garo is able to hold it without any problem.  But it doesn’t seem to help him with Persimmon, a girl he harbors feelings for and is suffering from a worsening illness.

Webcomic of the Week – A Lesson is Learned But the Damage is Irreversible

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 5 - 2010

In A Lesson is Learned But the Damage is Irreversible, writer Dale Beran and artist David Hellman struggle like crazy to create a webcomic.  Not that it really shows throughout the series, that just seems to be the topic of their adventures as they proceed through the art.  This is the problem with making comics, you see.  You struggle and agonize over what to do a comic about, and all the while magic spells and failed video game creations distract the hell out of you.  It seems like there’s a pretty common theme of distraction, which is something I can relate to pretty easily.  Man, it’s hard to get yourself to do stuff sometimes.

Screw Your Multiple Batmanses, Giant-Man Returns

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On September - 2 - 2010

Yeah, that’s right son.  Giant-Man, a character name we haven’t seen used in a long-ass time, returns in December in Avengers Academy.  It can only make me imagine that Hank Pym, the man with a thousand codenames and a mean back hand, has finally gone old school because theoretically he’s going to stop being insane.  Remember the Hank Pym that didn’t create killer robots and beat his wife?  Neither do I.  So I think this could be a really interesting return for Hank Pym.  The only disappointing thing is that this is happening in Avengers Academy, and that Hank isn’t on a primary Avengers team to really prove himself.  Granted, this character has been about nothing but proving himself for the past I-don’t-know-how-many years, but he deserves the shot.

I’m going to laugh pretty hard if this ends up not even being Hank in this costume.
