30 Rock – The Shower Principle

Posted by Rick Starke On April - 2 - 2012

In “The Shower Principle” episode of 30 Rock, we see Liz working with her accountant on her taxes and realizing she does the same things-the same way-every year. She uses this info throughout the episode to try and solve problems. Jack is trying to come up with an idea to feel like a man of industry again and mentions “The Shower Principle”, which is something we’ve all dealt with: being fully distracted by something else (such as being in the shower), you often times have your best ideas, and how he needs to figure out how to get his mind right. Jenna is going through a series of bad luck related incidents that she blames on Macbeth (yes, the play) and the parody of it on TGS. Tracy has mo’ money, and thus, mo’ problems.

In this episode of the show a Subway is opened in the school cafeteria, and in order for it to exist a student must be a partial owner, so there’s a guy named Subway. 30 Rock – Grandmentor & Kidnapped by Danger

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 27 - 2012

30 Rock did a double episode this past week, with “Grandmentor” and “Kidnapped by Danger”. Unfortunately, I (accidentally) watched them in reverse order, which did a nice job of causing a bit of spoilers and leaving me wondering what the hell I missed…we have Jack working to try to get Avery back from the North Koreans, and eventually deciding to put together a made for TV movie about Avery, putting Liz in charge of writing it. Kenneth and Hazel are still going toe to toe for attention from Tracy, with Liz seeing it as some sort of feminism battle and trying to mentor Hazel. Jenna works hard to get the role of Avery in the movie and attempts to write a song that can’t be parodied by Weird Al. Avery’s mom shows back up and is caught between two Jacks.

Community – Contemporary Impressionists

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 27 - 2012

Community got marginally better with last Thursday’s episode. It’s still not really proving it deserves to be on NBC’s Thursday night over Parks & Recreation.

In the episode Abed gets addicted to celebrity impersonators and racks up a huge bill, so the group has to work a bar mitzvah to pay off Abed’s debt to the agency owner. Jeff was recently put on anti-anxiety medication and is now confident to the point where his ego can take over at any moment.

The Office – Get the Girl

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 21 - 2012

In “Get the Girl”, The Office took about 40 steps backwards. Andy drives to Florida to get Erin back (it works). Everyone else (Nellie included) was back in Scranton. Let’s just cut to the yay/nay…

30 Rock – St Patrick’s Day

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 21 - 2012

The Saint Patrick’s Day episode of 30 Rock, appropriately titled “St. Patrick’s Day”, starts off with a subtle, yet strong joke, before the episode even starts. The head writing credit on the episode: Colleen McGuinness. Fantastic. In the episode, we see Dennis Duffy return, Liz have a meltdown, and another Tracy/Jenna headbutting incident that goes very poorly on live TV as a result of Kenneth no longer being a page.

The Office – Last Day in Florida

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 15 - 2012
“Last Day in Florida” starts off with Dwight, Jim, Robert, and Nellie out golfing. Robert reveals to Jim that he is going to sabotage the Sabre idea and Dwight will be canned in the process. Jim attempts to stop Dwight from attending the presentation to the board to save his job, and Dwight believes it to be a prank.
In Scranton, there is a competition between Toby and Darryl for who is going to get Kevin as a “client” for Girl Scout Cookies. Erin finally reveals to Andy that she isn’t coming back to Scranton.

Parks & Recreation – Lucky

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 15 - 2012

In the last episode before a four week break for Parks & Rec, entitled “Lucky” we find Leslie getting ready for a television interview with Buddy Wood, who is known for getting candidates in Indiana elected after a strong interview and endorsement. Buddy is forced to cancel which sends Ben into an overworking mode, and allows Leslie to go out for a few drinks with Tom and Ann…which backfires when Buddy can indeed have the interview due to a delayed flight.

Andy passes his women’s studies class he was taking and heads to a celebratory dinner with April, Ron, and Linda (Andy’s teacher, played by Danielle Bisutti). April spots Chris and invites him to eat with them and tries to get Linda and Chris to hook up.

30 Rock – Standards and Practices

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On March - 15 - 2012

Ok, yes, this aired a week ago, but why not read the recap now in preparation for tonight’s episode?

After an America’s Kids Got Singing fiasco organized by Jack’s nemesis, 15-year-old Kaylie Hooper, Kenneth is promoted in the standards department and is tasked with cracking down on TGS. Meanwhile Jack is faced with the decision to help or destroy his nemesis, Tracy is fasting for a medical procedure, and Jenna is getting in touch with six kids born from eggs she donated.

The Office – Test the Store

Posted by Rick Starke On March - 5 - 2012

“Test the Store” is the latest episode of The Office, and we still have the divide of characters between Tallahassee and Scranton. In this episode, the folks down in Tallahassee are ready to make their grand opening for the first Sabre store, while there is a meeting in Scranton regarding the gang problem.

Everyone at Tallahassee has been assigned a role for the store opening, be it Erin as a hipster to fake interest, Kathy has the job of flirting with the bloggers (which she asked for), Ryan has to give a presentation, and Packer is tasked with being the sexual predator. Everyone else was a normal customer service associate.
