Matt Walsh’s Players set to debut on SPIKE

Posted by Jason McRobbie On March - 1 - 2010

From the hilarious and often demented mind of Matt Walsh comes a brand new Spike TV original series called Players. Walsh created the series and stars alongside Ian Roberts, friend and co-founder of the improv comedy troupe The Upright Citizens Brigade. The premise of the show follows two very different brothers (Walsh and Roberts) as they try to run a successful sports bar. This proves to be difficult due in part to their “night and day” personalities and in part to their useless staff.

today show star wars

I don’t watch the Today Show, but I do watch The Soup with Joel McHale. I finally got around to watching last week’s episode, and I discovered this gem.
For Halloween the cast of the Today showed dressed up as Star Wars characters, throw in some drunk Ewoks and lets see what happens. You’re going to want to watch the following video.

And Now For Something Completely Hilarious…

montypython

The influence of Monty Python on the world of comedy has been likened to the influence of The Beatles on popular music.  And while it’s a lofty comparison, it is incredibly true!  In fact, over the course of forty-five episodes of Flying Circus, five films, a live touring stage show, and a plethora of comedy albums, the Pythons have rearranged the face of comedy quite brutally.  Their rebellious stream-of-consciousness style, facilitated by Terry Gilliam’s unique animations, created something that hadn’t been seen before.  In the new documentary Monty Python: Almost the Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut), which commemorates their 40th anniversary, we get to see the inner workings of the minds that made it all possible.

Patton Oswalt My Weakness is strong

Patton Oswalt has been a comedian for over 20 years now. He’s written for shows like MADtv and Human Giant, guest starred on awesome shows like Reno 911 and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Played Spence for the entire run of King of Queens, voiced Remy the rat in Ratatouille, and has released two comedy albums. He’s had a pretty good run so far, but that’s not slowing him down.  He has a movie coming out soon, called Big Fan, in which he is the top-billed star.

Anyway, comedy, that’s what we’re here for right now.  Patton has a new album that he recorded in Washington, D.C. earlier this year called My Weakness is Strong.  It’s out on iTunes right now, the physical CD/DVD releases this coming Tuesday.  Also, if you read this the day it’s posted don’t miss his stand-up special on Comedy Central tonight at 10 P.M.  Well, how is the album?

Unbalanced is Rather Accurate

xl

Before you think the title means I hate Doug Benson’s new album Unbalanced Load, it doesn’t.  I actually like it, I just think content wise it is a bit unbalanced.  The first four tracks got more smiles than laughs out of me. Once it goes into the fifth track it gets much funnier.

I’m admittedly a previous fan of Doug Benson’s.  Not a longtime fan; I think I first started following his work closely earlier this year when I first saw Super High Me.  I was familiar with him from VH1’s now canceled show Best Week Ever and an appearance he made on Curb Your Enthusiasm.  After becoming one of his Twitter followers and buying an autographed copy of his previous album Professional Humoredian I was afraid I’d either like this too much or that he would drop the ball.  Here are my unbiased thoughts on it.
