Remember a while back when I reviewed Green Lantern: First Flight? Well, if you don’t you can find it here. Anyway, the only reason this news isn’t really bad is because Carol Ferris was barely in that animated movie. Now I’m kind of hoping we see just as little of her character in the upcoming live-action Green Lantern film. Why do i hope this? Well because they have just named Blake Lively from Gossip Girl as Carol Ferris. Seriously?! Did you see her in Acceptance? Every time she said “Barnaby” I wanted to punch someone in the face. I’m already kind of sick of Ryan Reynolds being talked about as a super hero character and then you cast someone that’s in Gossip Girl to be his love interest? Terrible.
I know this casting choice is meant to give nerd dudes a boner, but I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I read it. One of the other women up for the role was Eva Green from Casino Royale. She might have added just a little bit of cred to a movie that people are going to already want to label as ‘just another dumb comic book movie’ given the current cast. If they cast someone like Robert Pattinson as Sinestro I will personally make sure that no one I know sees this movie.
