Bethesda Softworks – Impressed at E3
Bethesda as developers have recently only worked on Elder Scrolls and Fallout games (excluding Fallout: New Vegas). A lot of the games that have come from them recently have been published by Bethesda, but were developed by other studios. Like Brink for example.
Well, a lot of people didn’t like Brink, but Bethesda Softworks has some exciting looking stuff coming out this year and beyond.
Let’s tackle them in chronological order based on release date, shall we?
Rage is being developed by id software, the studio responsible for Quake and Doom (basically the guys who pioneered FPS’s), and it looks fantastic. It uses an all new engine(id tech 5) that id developed in-house and the graphics and gameplay just look amazing.
Check out a cinematic/gameplay trailer that sheds a little more light on what the game’s actually about.
Now check out this great gameplay video that was recently released.
If that gameplay video didn’t get you excited to play Rage, it’s probably not your thing, and that’s fine. If it did get you excited Rage will be released October 4th for the PC, PS3 & Xbox 360.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The last Elder Scrolls game I played was Morrowwind, and I’m not losing my mind over this game like everyone else is, but I do have to admit it looks impressive and that I’ll probably buy it. Check out a trailer.
And then there’s this 14-minute behemoth of a video from G4 that is Skyrim gameplay with commentary.
Elder Scrolls V is going to be released 11/11/11 (in you missed that in both videos)
I never played the first Prey. I remember hearing about it and it just not interesting me. But, after learning about Prey 2 I have to honestly say, Prey 2 might be my personal favorite of this bunch. It’s like Blade Runner if Dekker was hunting aliens instead of androids. They’re calling it “alien noir”, but it’s obviously inspired by Blade Runner. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
Again, like Rage, Prey 2 is only being published by Bethesda. It’s being developed by Human Head Studios. Check out a trailer.
Now check out a gameplay clip/developer interview, this time courtesy of IGN.
Prey 2 doesn’t have a release date yet.
