Laughable Man, HA! – Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

Since the introduction of Rock Band, the Guitar Hero franchise has undergone somewhat of an identity crisis. It split into the family-friendly Band Hero,  DJ Hero, and whatever other kinds of Hero they could think of. Now, they’re claiming they are getting back to the rock that brought them this far, but with a seemingly very odd twist. Check out the first teaser trailer, and 35 known tracks for the game under the cut.

Boo Amazon.com, Boo – Life

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

Right now if you want to buy one of the DVD versions of Life, the nature documentary, those are both the same price, which is totally fine. If you want to buy it on Blu-Ray however, the Oprah Winfrey narrated version is $48.99, while the superior David Attenborough narrated version is now $59.99. The Oprah version has stayed the same price all week, while the Attenborough version has gone up by $11. I know you want to push the sales of the inferior Oprah version, but not cool Amazon.

Don’t fall for it, if you want to buy Life on Blu-Ray, buy the David Attenborough narrated version somewhere else, or wait for the price to go down.  Or just pay the $59.99.

HTC Evo 4G – Review Round-Up

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

Later today people will undoubtedly be lined up outside Sprint locations waiting for the doors to open so they can purchase the HTC Evo 4G.  It seems like a pretty sweet phone: 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1, 8 megapixel camera capable of recording 720p video and front facing 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat, HDMI out & a 4.3″ screen.

It’ll cost you $199 with a 2-year contract after a $100 mail-in-rebate. You have to pay a mandatory premium data fee of $10 a month. If you’re planning on using the phone as a mobile hotspot that’s going to run you another $29.99 a month on top of your plan price. You can check here to see if 4G is available in your area.

Now that you know all of that, check out the reviews under the cut.

Strong Punch to the Cineplexus – Get Him to the Greek, Splice, etc.

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

The “etc.” is in the title because this is the first week where there might be three movies worth seeing. Well, I think the two in the picture above will be good, the other one I’m not so sure about.

How Much Fun Does This Look? – The A-Team

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 4 - 2010

In the past couple days a bunch of A-Team clips have been released. If you’re planning on seeing it and don’t want to spoil anything, don’t watch them. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to see the movie you should probably watch all five of the clips below the cut. Just remember to go in with an open mind.

That above poster is wrong by the way. The movie comes out June 18th.

Killzone 3 – Trailer Time

So, unfortunately the first trailer for Killzone 3 is a rendered trailer. But, it’s a trailer for Killzone 3, so it’s worth the run-time. Hopefully we’ll get to see some gameplay during E3 in a couple weeks. Check out the trailer under the cut.

Coolest Backpack Ever?

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 3 - 2010

This has literally been all over the internet already, but 80stees.com is going to release this beautiful Ghostbusters themed Proton Pack backpack soon. I like it, but am a little worried about that string connecting the two parts as a serious snag hazard.  Check out more pictures under the cut.

Creating Synthetic Life Premieres Tonight

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On June - 3 - 2010

I feel as though we should mention that the special Creating Synthetic Life premieres tonight at 8pm on the Science Channel.

Here’s part of the press release.

Dr. J Craig Venter…and his team at the J. Craig Venter Institute (JCVI) became the first in history to synthetically create a living, self-replicating cell.

Now, Science Channel is exclusively bringing viewers inside Dr. Venter’s pioneering quest to produce life synthetically in Creating Synthetic Life, premiering Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 8PM e/p. Over the course of five years, only Science Channel cameras captured the failures, successes and breakthrough moments of Dr. Venter, Nobel Laureate Hamilton Smith, Dr. Clyde Hutchison and JCVI researchers as they meticulously sought to create a synthetic single-celled organism.

Following that at 9PM viewer questions that were submitted via Facebook will be answered.
