Last night I tried to sign on to PSN to add an old friend who’s gamertag I saw on Facebook. My PS3 gave me an error message saying I was unable to sign into the PlayStation Network. Having this happen to me before at my last apartment due to my internet connection being less than reliable (thanks Verizon) I got frustrated and tried to sign in about 5 more times before I gave up.
Later I checked my Google reader feed to find out I wasn’t alone and this is happening to PS3′s everywhere. Not only is it not allowing people to sign into the PlayStation Network, but it is preventing anyone from playing newer games with dynamic trophies. That means No Heavy Rain, No Dante’s Inferno (just tried it), no Bio-Shock 2. Some are speculating this is a hardware issue for the older ‘PS3 Fats’ but Sony hasn’t updated PS3 owners on the status of the fix since last night when they said they were “…work(ing) to restore service to all”. I’ll try and update as updates become available.
