I grew up in a house where action films were king. Where Jean-Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Bruce Lee, and Chuck Norris were usually the heroes. Assassination Games features a return to form for one of those heroes.
In Assassination Games Jean-Claude Van Damme plays a contract killer (Brazil), and a very good one. Scott Adkins plays Flint, a trained killer that did some work for Interpol who is in hiding with his comatose wife.
Interpol has been under some heat and needs to flush out Flint to both silence him and get back money they lost when a deal Flint was involved with went bad. In order to do this they release, and put a hit out on, the criminal responsible for Flint’s wife’s condition to bait him. This man, Polo, and his crew gang-raped and beat Flint’s wife into a coma while making him watch. So, needless to say he has some personal interest in dispatching Polo.
Meanwhile Van Damme is hired by the “anonymous client” to take out Polo. The two cross paths and are forced to choose between working together or continuing to get in each other’s way.

The Horrors are a pretty good band. I haven’t heard much of their stuff, but what I have heard I have liked. They might look a bit ridiculous, which does tend to affect music videos, but the song is good. Check out their video for “Still Life” below.

The Infinite #1 – Cover Gallery

The Infinite is a new time-travelling six-part mini-series from writer Robert Kirkman and artist Rob Liefeld that will debut next Wednesday, August 3rd. I wanted to post a preview of this, but apparently Image hates people previewing and getting excited about their stuff, unless it’s an exclusive to a single site. Oh well, you can check out a preview here.
Another site is claiming they have a 12-page preview, but none of the pages are the same as the one I just linked, and Rob Liefeld himself posted one of the images from that gallery as an image from issue #2, so I don’t entirely trust it.

This is the trailer for an animated short film that is going to be coming with Assassin’s Creed Revelations this fall. I’m not sure if you can only get it with the signature edition, but even if that’s the only way, it seems like it’ll be worth it.

Crystal Antlers – Two-Way Mirror

Two-Way Mirror is an odd, and hard album to define. It’s post-hardcore and post-punk while sometimes sounding like an ode to the rock of the 60′s/70′s. It’s definitely an album worth checking out. Which you can do here.
