Lala to be Killed in a Month

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 30 - 2010

Apple bought Lala sometime last year and though they don’t say why they’re shutting it down, can anyone really feel good about this? This could quite possibly mean the death of Music Monday, or at least the absence of a player where you can listen to the album. Same thing goes for album reviews(they’ll still exist, but there most likely won’t be an embedded player with them anymore). Hopefully Apple just make iTunes more like Lala, but I’m not going to hold my breath (though do I think you’ll be able to listen to anything without paying them something). Official statement from Lala under the cut.

I Say Thee Yay

Posted by Dillon St. Jean On April - 30 - 2010

Yes folks, that is in fact the first image revealed of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, God of Thunder.  In all his chain mail glory.  Thankfully he isn’t bare-armed, bare-legged, as he is depicted in older Thor comics.  Instead they have opted for some serious awesomeness with the more modern costume present since the title’s return to print a couple years ago.  Red cape: check.  Silver discs on his chest: check.  Flowing blond hair: check.  Manly Ultimate Thor beardface: check.  Yes, it’s all here except for the winged helmet and his mighty hammer Mjolner, which I’m sure are soon to be revealed.

People We Admire – Michio Kaku

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 29 - 2010

Dr. Michio Kaku is someone I’d refer to as a super-scientist.  He has a few TV shows (one of which is currently developing a second season), has written or co-written eleven books, hosts two weekly radio shows, and has appeared in many documentaries.  He was recently interviewed about the volcanic eruption in Iceland (he’s not even a Volcanologist)  and will be appearing on Larry King Live tomorrow night- April 30th,(which I didn’t know when I started writing this) to talk about the special where Stephen Hawking said extraterrestrials most likely exist, but we don’t necessarily want to meet them.

HTC Incredible – Review Round-Up

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 29 - 2010

The Verizon Wireless HTC Incredible releases later today.  It’s a phone I’ve been interested for a while, mostly because of Android 2.1 and the 8MP camera. It also has a 3.7″ screen, 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 8 GB internal memory, an HTML browser that supports Flash Lite, WiFi, and runs on 512 MB of RAM. It’ll cost you $199 with a 2-year contract and mandatory $30+ a month data plan. If you have an available upgrade you can snag it for $150.

Check out the reviews below the cut.

Yo, Andrew! Happy Birthday!

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 29 - 2010

Today is Andrew’s birthday, and though he is really hesitant/shy to admit it, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is his favorite movie ever. I know it’s weird, but everyone has their thing, right? Hey, I admitted to enjoying Bad Boys 2 last week. It happens. Yeah, anyway, that’s his favorite movie ever, so I made him the awesome picture seen above (I don’t really care if “#1 biggest fan” doesn’t make sense). I heard he has a similar poster above his bed, so I’m sure he’ll like it.

Happy Birthday Andrew! I’m sure he would appreciate Happy Birthday comments. That is, unless you’re too scared to comment.

Just Make a Movie Already

Posted by Jamie Concepcion On April - 28 - 2010

As far as I know this makes it two sweet live-action trailers for Halo in the past two years. I really can’t believe this trailer is advertising the beta of Halo Reach. I’m not even really a Halo fan, but if they made a movie like this I would most definitely see it, and I think a lot of people would agree.

When I say a movie like this I mean a movie focusing on either the Spartans or a similar military group as a squad, with maybe a cameo appearance by Master Chief. Making a Master Chief centric movie would be a mistake. (I typed all that and then I found the video at the bottom of this post. It’s really gritty, yet awesome. Maybe a little too much shaky cam, but that is the kind of Halo movie they need to make.)

Halo Reach and Halo 3 ODST trailers under the cut.
